I mean... It's a show in the setting of Cyberpunk. It would be naive to assume that everything will be fine at the end. And there is a lot of foreshadowing of something bad happening since episode one
Last shot was fantastic. Lucy's English VA killed it and I have to say I'm really liking the David x Lucy relationship.
And also the Mox, the gun range, and Lucy gives David(I'm assuming) the training BD
I appreciate how hard Maine wingman'd for David — he even lent him his car!
Did.. did our MC in a trigger show just declare he's going into space!? Shit just got real
He has not been having a good week
And you know what worries me is that the cyberpunk genre has no chill, it perfectly can go like this to the end, and nothing good will happen to him, it is tradition of the genre after all, but i want the kid to success and win so badly, maybe... the power of anime saves his ass from the grim dark that is the corporate dystopia
A lil piece of his innocence gone, he can chug beers now, his lungs are artificial, he is now on painkillers, and now he killed someone
Well this is it, he is too deep now, if Maine dies or betrays him he is gonna end in quite a bad place, and man he is not even in a good place now
Lucy will 80% sell the kid out and then regret it later, he is too infatuated by her, and she is clearly on some other program
Same I want David to make it and not become a psycho or worse dead by the end 😭
I agree with you on, i want this kid to successeed but cmon. Lucy seem like a decent person. Lets be hopefull. Its a wicked world, but may they rise from this dystopia.
I'm so spoiled by other discussion threads filled with stitches. Where are the usual stitchers?
I really like Rebecca too! I thought I saw some vibes between her and David but maybe not?? That being said I love like Lucy a lot too, and thought the progression of her and David's relationship felt fresh and natural. I'm excited to see what happens next!
One of them have to die.
She dies, and David takes his mom's and Lucy's ashes to the moon (keeping his promise of taking her)
David goes cyberpsycho and dies, leaves all his money to Lucy allowing her to go the moon never to be seen again.
I already feel gut-punched
I love how at the 12 mins mark we see the location of Angie's key side quest.
so I saw 4eps and does anyone else think the subs are weird? Obviously theyre using cyberpunk slang with choom and nova and gonk but just weird english translations that dont make sense? Like maine calling him doug, is that supposed to be dog? like yo dog?
I think it is both bad grammar+ all the in universe speak words (nova, choom) get translated in something nonsensical. You're better off just disabling them because every other sentence is just plain wrong, as if they just had someone make it up on the first try of watching and then called it a day lol.
You have to put on English [CC] subtitles, not regular English subtitles. The regular English subtitles messes up almost every other word. English [CC] is 100% accurate to what they are actually saying, only problem is (at least for me), is it's in white writing with no background so half the time you can't read it.
I kinda think this has to be watched in dub. The Japanese translations don’t really work for the way a lot of these guys speak in slang and Ebonics
long limb dude had a short life, and im guessing everyone dies in the ending with what lucy said dang
Why do you think they aren’t allowed to show that here? Cause they definitely are and it’s not at all abnormal.
Are the subtitles really bad or is it just me? Typos and bad grammar. It’s like no one proofread them.
Nice cold open!
I really love the way they did the training arc. They sliced in the little snippets of character building in the middle in such a natural way.
Also, was that Rogue we see?! And we got to see Lucy's monowire and the Maelstrom gang again!
Not a lot happens in the episode compared to the previous ones, but however briefly we knew about the long arm guy, even though he was a pervert, I was still kinda sad he got sacked.
I wonder who sent the pissing assassin. Is it by Arasaka's boss father? We haven't heard anything from them since David rejected the principle.
But on the other hand, maybe not, as he wanted David as a specimen, so he'd want David alive, so I wonder what this hit was all about.
Also I absolutely love the way Maine kicked David to save him from the missle, so glad it's not like the cliche we always see, a side character putting themselves in harm's way to save the main protagonist. It's actually the first time I see someone do this in all the movies/shows I've seen.
That ending of Lucy and David...They nailed the chemistry so much, honestly I shipped them from the first time Lucy showed up.
The kiss, the moon, the atmosphere... it was so good... though it really feels like it's foreshadowing that something bad will eventually happen...
I'm getting the feeling Lucy's gonna die to save David, here's to dreading it before it even happens...
What was that ending song when they kissed its sounds so familiar but I can't remember
Felt like an episode of Breaking Bad starting in the middle of the action with no context
My god, that little preview at the beginning had be clenching in anticipation of who was gonna bite the dust. Especially since we had David bonding with the crew all over the course of the episode.
The fact that Maine never stopped smooching even as he was talking to him was hilarious. I guess that's another advantage of having this form of communication where you don't really need to use your mouth and only you can hear the call; it's harder to get cockblocked.
It was pretty wild to find out that Pilar and Rebecca were siblings. Not even a smidge of resemblance there, lmao. Although, I wonder what the hell happened in that one mission where it seems like she got kidnapped and they're trying to negotiate.
Out of all the crew who could've died, I can't say I felt too bad about Pilar. Outside of his connection with Rebecca, the show didn't give us much to make him more endearing. I was way more worried that his sister and Maine would end up with the same fate.
And hey, would you look at that, they're finally making out too. It was pretty funny how Maine and Dorio had been his wingmen in order to make it happen. But man, you can't just plant that kinda death flag at the same time the two leads hook up with each other. David's gonna fucking die in the end, isn't he? And maybe the rest of the crew too. I can already see it; him overusing his implant for one last hurrah and going out in a blaze of glory, probably to save Lucy or something like that. He's gonna be remembered for how he died. EDIT: Oh no, wait. I think the ending of the OP spoils how it happens.
What he actually meant was that they should invest in crypto together
Man I hope these crazy kids make it. But unfortunately this is cyberpunk so best comes to best one of em makes it
the way they're back on the moon at the end of the episode was beautiful
Well there are death flags everywhere. I love David but I wonder what kind of tragic end this will have. Night City just isn’t that kind of place 😫
Very nice use of non-linear storytelling, my cliches about Lucy came true, David got some more augments, goldfingers died after getting the goldfingers, but that's what happens when you try to James Bond the Girl when your not the main character.....
You know it's true.
Rebecca is fine as usual and she is not a Loli despite what the show people might have recently said.....
Good episode.
Yo that was tense, sad aswell as sweet. The death of Pillar was shocking, i feel like we should gotten more of him. He was a fun silly characters so i do think gonna miss him. Think many can agree with that, even tho was just few episode. Cant say i dislike a goofball with arms as the size of his legs playing with plates lol.
Good part of whats sweet in this episode is that David and Lucy finnaly could talk about the incident, i just felt it would be something special when he saved and took her to the surgent. Its just unfolded. It seems she was shy, and i just knew seconds later in the conversation on roof that she didnt want David to continue to live this life, and unfortunately dying. She was afraid of loving and having a loss. Seems the love overpowered which was beautyfull. David said whats on his heart. Even tho as wicked their lifestyle is. Most want a pair. Seems they are a good one. Lucy seems to hiding something but danm i wish so much a good ending for both of them especially David who is basiacly in recent time living a life of pain, sadness and torture. May his good heart and crazy mind in this dystopian and superficial world. Good and bad, but the very least he is real.
Someone had to possibly die for David to finally talk to Lucy. FFS.
