Yuya Hashizume was born in Okayama Prefecture in 1983 and is currently based in Tokyo. Self-taught, he started his art production, and recently attracted attention with his " eye water " series, which depicts the moment when a single teardrop falls from an eye against a background of monochromatic colors, using a Japanese anime-style drawing method. are collecting.
Yuya Hashizume has loved drawing and creating since he was a child. After graduating from a vocational school, he learned about brands and products through working at an outdoor brand, and also self-taught himself illustration and design techniques. After that, I worked in the PR department while designing advertisements and creating promotional materials for stores. After retiring from that job, he aspired to produce his own works while deepening his painting skills through repeated trial and error. After that, he gradually began to do drawings commissioned by culture magazines, and eventually presented his works in self-planned exhibitions.
Taking advantage of his lack of originality, Hashizume creates works that are completely imaginary and anonymous, and in his first exhibition in 2016, he discovers new species of plants that do not actually exist. Based on a fictitious story, I will present an installation work that includes humorous images and illustrations.
At the same time, I will present works depicting people and animals, referring to the depictions of Fujiko F. Fujio , including Doraemon, who has been in touch with him since childhood and was fascinated by its rounded shapes . The works, which were created with the idea of how to create works by Fujiko F. Fujio with a high degree of perfection as fiction, were initially produced with silk screens, but gradually increased as they were presented. In addition, acrylic paints were also used, and Yuya Hashizume added elements unique to Yuya Hashizume in the way of drawing the symbolic things of tears and the details. There, we can catch a glimpse of a new aspect of how to incorporate the experience of the gap that occurs between fiction and the original.
While holding independent exhibitions mainly in Tokyo and Okayama, he has also participated in exhibitions in London, Hong Kong, and Seoul. In 2021 , a large-scale solo exhibition “ eyewater SHANGHAI ” ( powerlong art center ) was held in Shanghai.
