It is Election Day 2021 in the US, with three gubernatorial elections and numerous other political races taking place on November 2. Given the prevalence of conversations about employment – or lack thereof – in the covid era, and the squeeze many have felt over the last year and a half, curiosity about how much poll workers earn is understandable. So, how much can you get paid as an election worker in the US in 2021?
How much do poll workers get paid in the US?
How much you can earn during Election Day depends on which state you live in. Some states pay poll workers by the hour, others by the day.
Some counties, like Alameda County, California, offer election day workers a (modest) bonus for serving all of the days requested.
A poll worker’s daily pay rate also depends on their duties and responsibilities, which depend, in turn, on their level of experience. Age is also a factor.
