Signal is an end-to-end encrypted messaging app. Privacy isn’t an optional mode, it’s just the way that Signal works. Every message, every call, every time.
Signal's commitment to your privacy –to building a product that protects your information from third parties including Signal–is what ensured that message history, profile info, contact lists, and other data were not vulnerable in this incident. FIN
We have identified and are contacting the 1,900 potentially affected users. We are prompting them to re-register their Signal numbers and encouraging them to enable registration lock. We are also working with Twilio to ensure they upgrade their security practices. 3/
Message history, profile info, contact lists, & other data were NOT & could not be accessed. The information attackers accessed could allow them to attempt to register a Signal user’s phone number on a new device if that user had not enabled registration lock. 2/
, which provides SMS verification services for Signal, suffered a phishing attack. Via Twilio, attackers may have accessed phone numbers & SMS registration codes for 1,900 Signal users. 1/

Signal releases have entered the chat! Or, more accurately, created the chat. Say hi to the Signal release chat for Android users where we'll announce new features & improvements.
It’s muted by default. If you prefer not to see it, you can block the chat & we won't be offended.
Here is your friendly reminder that we built Signal for private, secure communication. It’s built so you can communicate individually and in groups, through text and calls, without fear of interference or data collection. Free to use and not for profit.
We don’t know much about you, but we have a *feeling* that you value secure & private communication! Donate to support the work that we’re doing at Signal:

We've had an uptick in usage in Eastern Europe & rumors are circulating that Signal is hacked & compromised. This is false. Signal is not hacked. We believe these rumors are part of a coordinated misinformation campaign meant to encourage people to use less secure alternatives.
We definitely don’t know who your Valentine is or isn’t, but either way you can show your love however you want. Customize your reactions to your heart's content.
Happy Friday! We are aware of some failures for people during registration, and are working on a resolution. Please hold tight, new folks! Everything else is up and running.
