Hi - this is quite simple: I’m on holiday right now. I contacted Daisuke before I left to discuss his interesting letter to BMJ because we all want to get to the bottom of this. I haven’t had a chance to discuss it with Emma yet. That’s all. Have a good weekend everyone.

1/ We have a new preprint out that provides promising evidence using genetic data that IL-6 inhibition (e.g. with drugs like tocilizumab) might work in sepsis, like it did in COVID-19.
We think this deserves a randomised trial:

This isa good thread saying something I’ve often thought more people should know: zotero is free, community-led, open source, and *better* than other citation managers. I also love that economists, physicists and biomedical scientists all come together to make everything better

I've been using Mendeley Desktop daily for years, & have an annotated library of thousands of pdfs. Today, I switched to Zotero. Here's a of tips on how to do this, if you're also tired of Elsevier's BS and want to make the switch w/minimal effort while maintaining workflow.

... and everyone presents data with a genuine desire to discuss all the flaws openly and ultimately get to the truth. None of the hand waving/papering over cracks that sometimes happens. Building and maintaining a culture like that needs great leadership. #CCR22

I love 's use of an "intellectual conflicts of interest" slide at #CCR22 . I haven't seen (or maybe noticed) that before but it's a great way to give an audience a really honest idea of where you're coming from.

#CCR22 Two great trials presented so far. One of an intervention with poor preceding data (vit C) but adopted by many and one with good preceding data (SDD UK funding declined as it works!) but adopted by few. And we think we're rational as clinicians!
