investigation into the Scottish outbreak of unexplained hepatitis in children is now online as a preprint https://medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2022.07.19.22277425v1…. In this study, we used metagenomic and semi-agnostic target enrichment next generation sequencing to identify viruses in affected cases.
1/ We have a new preprint out that provides promising evidence using genetic data that IL-6 inhibition (e.g. with drugs like tocilizumab) might work in sepsis, like it did in COVID-19.
We think this deserves a randomised trial:

#CCR22 Two great trials presented so far. One of an intervention with poor preceding data (vit C) but adopted by many and one with good preceding data (SDD UK funding declined as it works!) but adopted by few. And we think we're rational as clinicians!
A huge honour to receive the 2021 Singapore Public Service Medal, Pingat Bakti Masyarakat in London from the Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore Mr Heng Swee Keat. A special honour from the country of my birth. Thank you, an evening to treasure
