A Houston Vietnamese drive-thru restaurant just got a $1 million boost to help grow its brand.

Saigon Hustle, which opened in February at 3323 Ella in Garden Oaks, beat out 240 applicants for the Million Dollar Restaurant Launch contest sponsored by Savory Fund from the private equity firm Mercato Partners that invests in emerging restaurant concepts. The $1 million investment was recently presented to Saigon Hustle co-owners Cassie Ghaffar and Sandy Nguyen, friends who met at the University of Houston and launched their fast-casual restaurant offering banh mi sandwiches, noodle and rice bowls, salads, spring rolls and egg rolls.
