Simply put, no one here is submitting link posts, everyone is submitting self text posts. The only link posts we are seeing are from spambots or spam accounts promoting some no-name site that plagiarizes other sites for ad revenue. We're not about that.

So we just shut it off entirely. Sadly this broke the sub for a little bit until I could figure out what caused it, now everything should be fine again. Hopefully.

One can only imagine how much work and evolution went into designing a data storage device which can cram hundreds of gigabytes into few cubic millimetres of space.

This is not merely about the known benefits of expandable storage, such as retrievability from a defective device, zero latency, uncompromised ergonomy, and instant re-use, but also:

MicroSD cards are a masterpiece of technology. While unsuitable for long-term storage, hundreds of gigabytes on fingernail size would have been considered a pipe dream in the floppy disk age! And now, vendors increasingly forego this grace of technological progress.

Mobile phones not having a MicroSD card slot, and operating system developers making it ever more difficult to use them properly, is absolutely dismissive and disrespectful of technological progress and all the work that went into making such a masterful storage device possible.

Memory cards are designed for such devices! All that work that went into making them is more and more wasted if vendors forego such card slot. Outright unthankful to those who created such technology.

This is not merely a rant, but food for thought, for another perspective to look at it. Imagine putting work into designing a masterpiece of technology, but it is increasingly being denied from enriching users' lives. That's precisely what is happening. And it only adds to the disaster that non-replaceable batteries are.

I have been using a note 9, and really love to keep my phone as thin and sleek as possible, but I broke my last phone because of too many drops, and feel even a bit more protection would be a smart idea. Do you folks know of the thin(nest) case that is available for these sorts of phones?

information abt me: your typical android user, been working on it since eternity; been using middle budget phones such as huawei mate 10 lite and now motorola g8 power, therefore im aware every single upgrade mentioned is a big jump for me; my needs and demand for particular aspects have changed throughout the years since as a kid i used to root every single phone i got in my hands and rn im rather just keen on the casual uses (mostly social medias, taking photos) i'm not gonna lie to anybody that as soon as I get ip12 i might be trying to jailbreak it

my needs: decent battery time clarity of os (i hated huawei esp bc it had this weird software) access to tweaked apks of yt/spotify (ikr android excels at this certain point but i've heard it's possible to get those installed on ios as well) good photo quality long system support (3+ yrs) gesture support (in love with this feature ever since i turned it on on my motorola, can't go without it)

i'm not even talking about phone functionality in terms of not freezing or good performance bc as i've said i am knowledgeable of the fact my enjoyment is gna skyrocket with the rise of raw speed of the phone

I am not sure if this is the place to post this but I have been browsing for a new phone lately and seem to be stuck between 2 phones – Huawei P30 Pro and Samsung Galaxy A71.

They both seem like pretty good phones. I’ve done some comparisons and stuff but can’t seem to decide. I love a good camera on a phone and from reviews, it seems that Huawei P30 Pro might be better despite A71 having slightly higher specs?

Anyone here who has tried both in life? What are your thoughts and/or experiences?

I wanted to buy a pixel 4a but there are limited ways of getting spare parts for it here where I live so I was thinking is a smart idea to go for an older flagship instead of a current mid-ranger.

I want to know if there are any significant differences in the camera quality and in the screen department.

So, I've had the S10+ for a year. It's fine. I bought a Pixel 4a 5g a couple of days ago. I can't decide which to use as my daily driver and which to let my kid use? I have a good case on the S10, so I am not worried about the kid using it. I can switch back if I want to. I used to have a Pixel 3a XL. So, I have experience with both model types. I'm not a gamer. I do social media, heavy browsing, youtube, and streaming. New and exciting can be fun, but old and trusty is good, too... Updates are nice ... The size is almost the same for the dimensions. The Samsung has .2 more screen, but I think that's a minor difference. Help... 😁 I tried Samsung S21 first and was sorely disappointed. Had to send it back for nearly overheating with simple to moderate tasks and stuttering... At $800, I expected more.

Hello, I have an iPhone XR for two years and now I’m thinking of selling it and get an android for change, the devices I found that are the best around my budget and available in my country(Greece) are Xiaomi Mi note 10 Lite, Motorola edge, Realme 7Pro and the new Samsung galaxy A52 . Which one you think is the best choice and is any of this better than my XR or I’ll have a similar experience?

Samsung galaxy s20FE (EU/Exynos version) 6GB ram 128GB storage

Xiaomi mi 10t pro 8GB ram 256GB storage

Mum uses cameras a lot, both main camera and selfie camera. Which one would you pick? Price is similar between those two devices.

Hi I'm a 17 year old living in India and i want to buy a new phone. i have been using a redmi note 5 for 3 or 4 years now and it has been satisfactory over the years. the reason i bought it in the 1st place is because it seemed good value for money (im not a huge spender) and had sufficient storage space for me to use it. i do not recall having any major problems with it (not even the *highly talked about* overheating of xiaomi) and it has served me well over the period. however, it is now starting to show signs of nearing its obsolescence and i am searching for a new phone but i dont know which one. i've never been one that watches all sorts of unboxing videos and drop tests and i'm way out of the loop when it comes to smartphones. i therefore find myself here, hoping to get some good suggestions of reliable brands/ models for me.

i'm not a huge spender, never been one to flaunt: brand value means nothing to me, i just want it to be effective
i dont demand an excessively outstanding camera, just a decent one to capture memories with sufficient clarity
my budget is somewhere around Rs 20-25k, (around $275- 345)
anything equal to or above 64GB works for me
no chinese brands please :)

Please do help me out as i am really not sure what would be the right option for me

I jumped ship from iOS after using a iPhone 3G till the 6S because of Apple's X and XR pricing back then and jailbreaking being in a bad state. First I bought a Xiaomi Mi 8 and now I'm using a Exynos Galaxy S10. I could make due with Android but I suddenly had an issue I never knew I could have before, physical size.

The Mi 8 was way too huge for my hands (I have a disability in my hands) which forced me to use the Mi 8 with both hands all the time which as super uncomfortable. One and a half years later I went for a Galaxy S10 which is just on the edge of the largest size I can handle and I love Samsung's OneUI but this Exynos chip really gets annoying over time.

Even on OneUI 3.1 with modest use I regularly end up at 50% battery at the end of the day and that's already with me limiting myself and using it less than I actually would want to. Now you might say 50% is fine and it is in a vacuum but honestly my Mi 8 used to be at 70-75% with the same or more usage so it would last me 2-3 days and battery-health won't get better with more use.

I also tried everything, adaptive power-mode, power-saving mode, disabling everything that I don't need etc.

Not to mention that the Exynos chip runs really hot at times, yesterday I lost 5% battery just rebooting my phone because my Google login was freaking out and waiting 10 minutes till it finally calmed down again starting everything back up. Some games also run worse on Exynos compared to a Snapdragon too, from what I read due to unoptimized drivers.

I read about all that before I bought the S10 but I thought I as a tech-savvy user could tame the chip somewhat but I guess not.

Beyond that, Android manufacturers seem to focus on bigger physical sizes more and more, last time I checked I couldn't find a decent Snapdragon device that is atleast just as big as the S10 or smaller unless I accept alot of trade-offs.

So looking back over at the Apple side of things it seems that jailbreaking is in a much more stable state again and my local second-hand shop sells a iPhone X for a price that I could almost cover trading my S10 in.

Did anyone go that way? Were you happy or did you regret it?

Hi, I currently own a Galaxy A5(2017). I love the phone but its battery and storage is starting to give out. Looking to upgrade. My use case hasn't changed and I just need something similar.

Performance: Just enough for day to day tasks, nothing special. Don't game at all.

Screen: As good as it can be. Don't really care about high refresh rates. OLED preferred highly.

Storage: 128GB.

RAM: I can tell my 3GB is less but I don't know if 6 is just gonna be enough. I almost never open more than 3 apps at once as I close them by shutting them down. So 4 I guess?

Camera: Don't really care, don't take pics

Special features: 3.5mm jack but could do without if the other specs make up.

Price: My budget is the same as when I bought the A5 that is ~$300 however due to inflation in my currency, it has been brought down to ~$220-230.

I honestly do not understand the point of ultrasonic fingerprint readers all big smartphone Manufacturers keeps pushing into their flagship phones.

They are finicky, don't work with moisture, don't work with screen protectors, don't work with dirty hands, can be seen in under the display in direct sunlight and are temperamental at best, I honestly think they are being implemented to literally force the progression of the ultrasonic technology.

In my opinion the side mounted physical fingerprint reader implemented into the power button was honestly the nail on the head in smartphone fingerprint technology. They work flawlessly and so efficiently that you don't even know your scanning your print while unlocking your phone with the power button.

What do you guys think, will manufacturers give up on ultrasonic any time soon or is there some sort of complication I'm missing with side mounted fingerprint readers?

I have had my Galaxy S10 for a while now, but I am eyeing on a change sooner or later.

At the moment, I've been looking at Apple mainly for the reasons: Better app support for social media I use Better communication w/ friends & family (iMessage + Facetime) Better security

Though all of that good stuff sounds nice, the things that keeps me away from change is: Possibly downgrade Price for the newest iPhones

Any recommendations on what to do? I'm quite lost myself, haha! If you have any experience with changing from android to Apple, feel free to leave a reply. :)
