Aug. 3

10 a.m. to 4 p.m. -- The CN hosts "The Saltworks of Sequoyah" exhibit at Sequoyah's Cabin Museum at 470288 Highway 101 in Sallisaw. The exhibit highlights the saltworks operation that Sequoyah ran on Lee's Creek and how he ended up running his own salt operation due to the high demand. The exhibit runs through Jan. 21. Aug. 4

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. -- The Cherokee Heritage Center offers free admission to citizens of any of the three federally recognized Cherokee tribes plus one guest as part of Cherokee Saturday. The center is at 21192 S. Keeler Drive in Park Hill.

10 a.m. to 3 p.m. -- The CHC hosts a finger-weaving class at the chapel at 21192 S. Keeler Drive in Park Hill. Pre-registration is recommended but not required. The cost is $40 per person, and all tools and supplies are provided. Lunch is not provided, and children ages 12-17 must be accompanied by an adult. 11 a.m. to noon -- The CHC hosts a one-hour genealogy class at the center at 21192 S. Keeler Drive in Park Hill. The class is $10 per adult and $5 per student in grades K-12. Advanced registration is required. For more information, email gene-norris@cherokee.org.

6 p.m. to 8 p.m. -- The CHC hosts an opening reception and awards ceremony for the 23rd annual Cherokee Homecoming Art Show and Sale at the center in Park Hill. 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. -- Community and Cultural Outreach hosts "Who's Your Crew and What Do You Do" as part of its Saturday Seminar series at the Tsa La Gi Community Room in the W.W. Keeler Tribal Complex in Tahlequah. This day of training will focus on nonprofit and community organizations. There is no cost to attend, and breakfast and lunch will be provided. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. -- The CN hosts the 13th annual Traditional Native Games at the No We Ta Community Center located across the road from the Cooweescoowee Health Center in Nowata. The public is invited to watch or compete in traditional games, including cornstalk shoots, horseshoes and more. The top three qualifiers will be invited to compete in the Cherokee National Holiday Traditional Games Championship competition on Aug. 25 in Tahlequah. The CN hosts the 66th annual Cherokee National Holiday co-ed softball tournament, men's fast-pitch softball tournament and women's fast-pitch softball tournament at the CN Softball Fields on Cherokee Street in Park Hill. Entry fee is $150 for co-ed tournament, $175 for men's fast-pitch and $125 for women's fast-pitch. Start times for each game will depend on the drawing of team brackets. The CN celebrates the 66th annual Cherokee National Holiday in Tahlequah. The celebration includes the powwow Friday and Saturday nights, the parade and State of the Nation address by Principal Chief Bill John Baker on Saturday morning and a fireworks show on Sunday night.
