Naturalization Applicants in 2020/2021? How long did you have to wait?

r/japanlife • 1 mo. ago 2

No worries!
I am married, but I live only 10 minutes away from the Legal Affairs Bureau so that might have something to do with it. It does make life easier for me if they ask me to bring additional documents :D

Update Received a call from the Legal Affairs Bureau an hour ago asking me to renounce my citizenship.

What are the conditions of getting 3 years renewal spouse visa?

Article from June 2020. Quite irrelevant now don't you think? "I wasnt speaking about my situation" -> why bring up your fiancé then?

What are the conditions of getting 3 years renewal spouse visa?

Being separated from your fiancé is not family separation. Spouses of J-citizens can process their visas and enter Japan.

A storm I guess.

You're in the same spot?

We may be getting divorced within a couple of months, so no clue if that's an option. Also renewing while living separately is really in doubt imo, since living separately due to marital issues is surely not a proper reason?

And deport the bugger and put both in the marriage in a legal limbo since the divorce isn't finalised? Anyway, my question wasn't even about living separately and renewing a spouse visa.

r/japanlife • 1 yr. ago 2

I see. Have you renewed your spouse visa while living separately?

[deleted by user]

r/japanlife • 1 yr. ago 1

Mate, so by your reasoning if a victim of DV starts living separately they would be deported without them even getting a chance at actually divorcing? Come on.

r/japanlife • 1 yr. ago 1

You'd still have to write a written explanation of why you want to extend and why you live separately, soooo

[deleted by user]

r/japanlife • 1 yr. ago 4

Sorry for the personal question, but did you live separately for some time, divorced, then switched right away?

[deleted by user]

r/japanlife • 1 yr. ago 5

While I understand your reasoning, surely it's not that black and white.

r/japanlife • 1 yr. ago 1

Surely they won't be cool with that? I guess that's a question for a 行政書士 though.

[deleted by user]

r/japanlife • 1 yr. ago 1

How do I justify being separated though? I can't imagine immigration being too happy with the reason being 'we're preparing for a divorce', and lying to them isn't exactly halal. Not to mention, if we divorce in the coming months changing status becomes inevitable. Edit: grammar

Married for 2 years and, lived in Japan 4 years (2 years student -> 2 years Spouse). Already living separately, so next spouse visa renewal can be tricky. My current visa is 1 year until August

When does pain end

r/Divorce • 1 yr. ago 2

Hit me up, I'm going through the exact same

Yup, she's Japanese. Thanks for the link!

Oh thank you!

r/japanlife • 2 yr. ago 1

That's for those living outside of the country. I meant a student loan in Japan with an appropriate long term visa.
