Abe doesn't look like he was hit with the first blast. When he turned around the shooter was able to hit him. Hence the neck and chest injuries I've heard reported.

This is a contrast in two countries. In America, something like this would have been incredibly loud and sent the crowd reflexively scrambling for cover In Japan, this event is so unbelievably unlikely that the crowd just stands there, unaware of what they just witnessed.

The first shot didnt hit the former PM i think... I do not understand why nobody shows any reaction when there is a big bang behind you. Did his security guards not recognise that? I really hope that he survives this and i wish his family all the best. Greetings from germany

Security will have a lot of explanation to do. Not recognising a bang is understandable in a country where there are very little shooting. But not having an eye on a person approaching within 3 meters of your client is beyond me.

I’m astounded at the crowds “lack” of reaction. They jumped, yet stayed, then began to “walk towards” the blast. Peaceful innocence during a horrific event. Completely opposite of the United States where we scatter at the sound of a car backfire. Prayers to Abe, family & Japan.

It looks like the first shot didn't even touch PM Abe. It was the second one that hit him. Deeply disturbing to see this news. I wish and pray for the speedy recovery for one of the dearest friend of India. PM Abe get well soon Sir. 🙏
