Thank you to everyone who came to our talk ! My advisors' high expectations made this talk the most polished talk I have given so far. I enjoyed my first in-person PL conference very much, thanks to everyone who talked with me!

Hi I'm Yuka, and I shouldn't take physics as an elective because I'm female.

Introduce yourself with the wildest feedback you’ve ever received. I’ll go first: “Hi I’m Amy. I’m too ambitious 🤝

Tackling random Xcode build system crap, I'm thinking that the Clang autocompletion project that I did for the GSoC helped me familiarize myself with Clang flags, and realize that it was 5 years ago. 5 years!? Where did my time go?

I was doing HCI/graphics research in my undergrad, so #pldi2022 was the first PL conference that I've been to. Overall, I felt that PLDI was more social and friendly, but the attendees were less diverse. Would love to see more PL conferences held in visa-friendly places!

I think it is not well understood that Chinese people living outside of the US have such a hard time getting a visa in the US to attend a conference, and they often have to miss their presentations because the US embassy failed to process visas on time.

Dear conference organisers: I promise I will choose a better birth place next time, but in the meantime can we please 1) host conferences at more visa-friendly locations or 2) leave more time between paper decision time and conference so we have enough time to apply for visas?

There were many interestingly-shaped lakes between SD and SF, like the lake on the left picture looks like a dragon and the lake on the right picture looks like a bird.

Tired of getting Ms./Mr. wrong when sending first emails or using Dr. when you should've used Prof. ? Learn Japanese and use "san"!😂

Actually, "san" applies not only to every human being but also to animals (e.g., <your cat's name>+san) and to objects (e.g., teddy bear san). It's like a hammer you can use to all possible nails.

2. "~" or "-" at the end of the sentence: Just putting "~" makes the sentence sound milder, without changing the entire sentence structure (e.g., "meeting has already begun ~")

Japanese language traits that I wish have existed in English: 1. "san": an honorific title that you can use for every human being without worrying about accidentally mistaking the pronouns

I received a science master's degree from MIT today. Although it has no meaning other than 2 years have passed since I started a Ph.D., I'm still proud of myself for moving to a new country and surviving during the pandemic.

A wonderful day celebrating . Honored to be part of such an amazing place where the future of nano will be discovered and the next leaders will be trained. Thanks to President Reif, Prof. Bulović and the community for the wonderful welcome!

If I won't get a horrible score on today's final exam, I'm done with taking computer science courses forever! ♾
