There's a new head of Loving Municipal Schools following a special school board meeting May 2.

Lee White, principal of Loving High School, was chosen by members of the Loving Municipal School Board to lead the district in the 2018-2019 school year.

White will replace Ann Lynn McIlroy, who announced her resignation from the post last week. McIlroy accepted a position as superintendent for the Roswell Independent School District.

"I'm very humbled with the opportunity, and that I've garnered the trust of the board as well as the staff within the district," White said.

"I'm very honored and very appreciative of this opportunity. It's a blessing to be in this district. The quality of education our students receive here is paramount and I think we have achieved a lot of great things in this district in a very short amount of time and are making a difference."

White said identifying needs in the district is the first order of business as superintendent, along with the ensuring the district's budget meets those needs.

White's two-year contract as superintendent begins July 1 with an annual pay of $110,000.
