Q: Doesn't leasing DRM'd ebooks fundamentally circumvent & undermine the spirit of Public Domain?
Doesn't it essentially mean copyright never expires? That any vendor/publisher/author opts-out of Public Domain by default?
What ensures the Public ever gets the expired book?

Ask #Librarians: If all ebooks were licensed/leased using DRM, how could they ever enter public domain?
Even after copyright expires, aren't the only available copies encrypted? Via US 17 § 1201 isn't breaking any DRM illegal?
So, what does public domain even mean for ebooks?
