Which seems odd.
Because it has a GPS chip.
And cell towers triangulate devices.
And it has an Internet browser.
But the NEST. That's the worry.

I’ll gladly trade Alison my old-fashioned non-tracking thermostat for her Nest.
Or wait… is she aware you can change thermostats? It’s unclear from her angry ranting.
