As I continue to follow Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev’s, descent into conspiracy theory lunacy, he gave an interview with AiF about the ‘special operation’ in Ukraine. A short thread on the 'high'lights. 1/

Not just the usual racially-profiling broadsides at those nasty ‘Anglo-Saxons’ he also trots out the tired conspiracy theory of the ‘golden billion,’ the idea that there is a secret and deliberate plan to allow an elite will prosper at the expense of everyone else 2/

(Sure, one could argue that in many ways this is the natural logic of market capitalism, but to present this as (a) a deliberate conspiracy and (b) something the Russians wouldn’t be eagerly embracing if they could, is pretty far-fetched, even for NP.) 3/

The “compassionate” tsarist Gen. Mikhail Skobelev commanded the 1881 massacre of Geok-Tepe in Turkmenistan 8/

More specifically, he has ascribed to him the dictum “I hold it as a principle that the duration of the peace is in direct proportion to the slaughter you inflict upon the enemy. The harder you hit them, the longer they remain quiet.” 9/

Hmm, maybe Skobelev is a better exemplar of Russian policy in Ukraine than NP realises… 10/

So in conclusion, Patrushev has again managed to surprise me, bringing new layers of conspiracy theory – ones which, unlike the majority of cynical RU propagandists – I fear this smart and driven man actually believes into his analysis of current global events. 12/

And this is the man who is in effect Putin’s National Security Adviser. How marvellous. If anyone wants more of my take on Patrushev, I talk about ‘The Most Dangerous Man in Russia’ in my podcast in 2020: 13/end

Who could be the most dangerous man in Russia? A president? An ideologue? A kleptocrat? A gangster? None of those, in my opinion...If anyone is interested in the Argumenty i Fakty article I mention,...

And what's really scary is the rumors he's Putin's handpicked successor.

In fairness haven't come across any anti-Israel sentiment in his oeuvre, nor yet direct anti-Semitism

Why go for just one conspiracy theory when you can go for all the conspiracy theories?

As a Briton I'm somewhat startled to find that I'm part of the axis of evil but I"m thrilled also that I might therefore partake of the "golden billion"! Who do I talk to about collecting my winnings?

As a Briton you still have to work hard to end up as an eloi rather than a morlock.

What’s the worst here is many elderly people (my relatives at least) say that if he says that, this must be true - he had access to all the secrets in the world, after all (as they believe), as a fsb director. Btw, do you think he turns more mad or is it just a regular level?

We're back to the Cold War and Russia will reprise its role as the helper of the post-colonial countries.
I think their fixation on England especially is very anachronistic. Russia is truly living in the past. But it does explain why the Russian big-shots all live in London.

For me it’s kinda offensive hearing it’s “cold” war. From here it’s very-very hot. At least 30 000 of Ukrainians are dead. And this is the minimum estimate. It was cold when propaganda about America as an enemy started - before Russo-Georgian war in 2008.

"(Russia) supported the US during their Civil War"
Really? Supported whom exactly?

During the American Civil War, the Czarist Pacific Squadron dropped anchor in San Francisco as a neutral harbor to escape British navy. U.S. govt at the time interpreted this as sign of Russian support of U.S. govt during Civil War.

To Skobelev could we add Suvorov and the Praga massacre in Warsaw, 1794, suppressing the Kosciusko uprising? 20,000 dead, mainly non-combatants. Some argue that Suvorov ordered that the corpses be left on the streets, pour encourager les autres.
1
Yes, people will often talk about the atrocities of the French Revolution, but never mention the fact that the Russian monarchy killed more people on a single day in Warsaw than were executed during the entire Reign of Terror.

What if it’s all part of a strategy?: spew madness from the likes of Patrushev, Medvedev, Lavrov etc and of course on TV to signal that if Putin goes it will only be worse. The goal being for the West to want to appease Russia (the only way for Putin to stay on

Это так же война поколений стариков против молодых и свободных граждан своей страны но и Украины
“At the end of the day, we’ve got to realize we’re at war, and we’re not just at war to support the Ukrainians. We’re fundamentally at war, although it’s somewhat through proxy, with Russia. And it’s important that we win.” pvewood.blogspot.com/2022/06/full-r
