According to Islamic reports, Muhammad would would hear sounds of a ringing bell and get "inspirations" as messages in an uncomfortable state. These are the Quranic revelations. This sounds more like a brain disorder and a mental illness.

According to the same report, the angel Gabriel would come to him in human form and speak to him and he would "grasp whatever he says." This sounds more like recurrent hallucinations.

He would sweat very heavily during "the inspiration." We can't know what people in a primitive environment were describing, but given that it has real physical impacts, he probably had seizures or something similar which 7th-century Arabs interpreted as divine revelation.

Here Muhammad's advisor covers him with a cloth when he is "divinely inspired" and waits until "the inspiration" is over. This is probably a regular thing.
Another man looks at Muhammad under the cover and hears him make sounds like the snoring of a camel.

In another narration, Muhammad would rapidly move his lips and tongue when he would reveive revelations, and it was very difficult for him. Allah also tells him in his inspirations not to do that. This sounds very much like a disorder.

Why would the almighty Allah inspire him in such a taxing way which is similar to stmptoms that we nowadays correctly diagnose as illnesses?
This certainly raises questions and doubts but there is more.

It is reported that Muhammad received especially abundant revelations in the period before his death.
Whatever episode we are talking about will likely increase with age and/or with neurological deterioration and damage. This is known to be the case with epileptic seizures.

Muhammad was terrified of the angel that was inspiring him in the name of Allah. Once he heard the angel speak from above and saw it sitting on a throne. Unfortunately only he could see it.

Now this is a very interesting one. Someone comes to talk to Muhammad and leaves. Muhammad asks one of his wives who this was. His wife says that it was a follower named Dihya.
Muhammad is convinced that it was actually the angel Gabriel.

In this case he is eating and is then divinely inspired without dropping his food. In this trance-like state he waits and gets a quick answer to something he is asked about. Not sure what to do with this one.

He also became extremely upset when a child named Ibn Sayyad did not get up to show him respect. He began to obsessively spy on Ibn Sayyad and suspected him of being the Dajjal (Islamic antichrist). Ibn Sayyad became suicidal because of this.

His child bride Aisha also said that he was at one point under the effect of magic and that he begged Allah to cure him.
