Strange, literally superficial interpretation of Azov SSO's insignia (3 swords of Urzuf). In Zhorin's words in his post on the ceremony: "We are forming new units on the same principles and ideological foundation as the legendary AZOV regiment."

Azov SSO & several other new units which have sprung up during the war, if anything, represent a further blurring of any arbitrary boundaries between Azov movement's "political" (eg Nat'l Corps) and military subdivisions, as political activists return to battlefield leadership

Another photo from Kharkiv ceremony shows neither mvmt symbols w/ "baggage" nor the political activities they represent are taboo. Here's Volkov (regt vet & NC activist who assaulted NSDC official in 2020). He & other Azov SSO personnel still proudly wear "old" insignia elsewhere

Azov *is* evolving & non-NG units do deserve more attention. But if they undermine Russia's cynical "denazifcation" propaganda, it's not because of differences in patches, but because their invasion has catalyzed Azov's growth, more than offsetting pyrrhic Ru victory in Mariupol
