Children played in a splashpad and adults grooved to the music Sunday afternoon at Hackberry Park for a community event promoting health and the cultural diversity of Houston’s Alief area.
The event was the latest in a series of outdoor gatherings hosted by city officials and sponsored by Cigna, a healthcare company. The gatherings spark positive interactions, volunteerism and a sense of community while celebrating the different neighborhoods around the city, said Susan Christian, director of the Houston Mayor’s Office of Special Events.
