Base release of Prime infrastructure that supports corresponding C9800 platform release and its features. |
Note |
For Cisco CMX compatibility details, see the Cisco Connected Mobile Experiences (CMX) Compatibility Matrix. |
Note |
Cisco Prime Infrastructure Release 3.8 does not support Cisco Catalyst 9800 Series Wireless Controllers all 16.12.x and 17.1.x releases. Cisco Catalyst 9800 Series Wireless Controllers use CAPWAP-based tunnels for mobility. The mobility control channel is encrypted and the mobility data channel can be optionally encrypted. This is termed as Secure Mobility. For more information about IRCM between Cisco IOS XE releases for Cisco Catalyst 9800 Series Wireless Controllers and Cisco Wireless Release for AireOS Controllers, see the Cisco Catalyst 9800 Wireless Controller-AireOS IRCM Deployment Guide. |

Cisco Connected Mobile Experiences (CMX) Compatibility Matrix
Important Notes
This section describes Cisco CMX compatibility limitations with the platforms and releases listed in the Cisco CMX Compatibility Matrix.
General
-
We strongly recommend that you upgrade to Cisco CMX Release 10.4.1.x or later if you are running Cisco CMX Release 10.3 or earlier.
Cisco High Availability
-
The High Availability feature on Cisco CMX:
-
Is supported only in Cisco CMX Release 10.3.x or later.
-
Is supported on all platforms supported by Cisco CMX Release 10.3.x or later.
Note
The HA feature in Cisco CMX Release 10.3.x or later is not supported on the Cisco MSE 3355.
-
Requires that both primary and standby servers have the same virtual machine size and the same virtual Cisco MSE appliances.
-
Cisco CMX Hyperlocation
-
Cisco CMX Release 10.2.x (non-Cisco Hyperlocation apps) is compatible with Cisco Prime Infrastructure Release 2.2.x and 3.0.x.
-
Cisco CMX Hyperlocation with the High Availability feature on Cisco CMX requires Cisco Controller Release 8.4.1.210 or later.
-
Cisco CMX Hyperlocation requires Cisco Controller Release 8.1.131.0 or later.
-
Cisco CMX Hyperlocation is not supported on the Cisco MSE 3355.
-
Cisco CMX Hyperlocation is not supported on the Cisco Mobility Express Controllers.
Cisco 3375 Appliance for Cisco Connected Mobile Experiences
-
Cisco CMX Release 10.5.1 or later supports the Cisco 3375 Appliance for Cisco Connected Mobile Experiences.
Cisco Access Points
Cisco access points that are supported on Cisco Controllers Release 8.0 up to 8.10 are supported on Cisco CMX.
-
Cisco CMX supports Cisco 1830, 1840, 1850, 2700, 2800, 3702e, 3702i, 3800, and 4800 access points.
-
Cisco CMX supports Catalyst 9105AX, 9115, 9117, 9120AX (with Cisco FastLocate), 9124AX, 9130AXE, 9130AX-E, and 9130AX-I access points.
-
(CSCvr26395 and CSCvr26398) The Cisco CMX Location Accuracy Test tool supports only Cisco Hyperlocation-capable access points.
Cisco ME
-
Cisco CMX Release 10.5.0 supports Cisco ME Release 8.8 running on Cisco 1830 and 1850 access points.
Cisco MSE 3355 Appliance (physical)
-
Cisco CMX Release 10.4.x or later does not support the Cisco MSE 3355 platform.
-
Cisco CMX Release 10.3.x release or earlier are supported on the Cisco MSE 3355 platform. However, the HA feature in Cisco CMX Release 10.3.x is not supported on the Cisco MSE 3355.
-
Cisco CMX Release 10.2.x or later is supported on the Cisco MSE 3355 but on a limited scale in terms of number of tracked clients and number of controllers synchronized. Scale numbers for Location and Presence Analytics are documented in the Cisco Connected Mobile Experiences Data Sheet.
Cisco Switches
-
Cisco CMX Releases 10.3.1 or later is not compatible with the following Cisco switch platforms:
-
Cisco Catalyst 2960-24TT switch running Cisco Release 15.0(2)SE11

IRCM Compatibility Matrix for AireOS Releases
Mobility, or roaming, is a wireless LAN client’s ability to maintain its association seamlessly from one AP to another securely and with as little latency as possible. For more information about mobility in AireOS releases, see the Information About Mobility section in the controller configuration guide.
This section lists compatibility information between various AireOS releases, starting from 8.0.x, that involve Layer 2 and Layer 3 roaming and guest tunneling.

CUWN Converged Access Solution Components and New (Hierarchical) Mobility IRCM Compatibility Matrix
New Mobility enables AireOS controllers to be compatible with converged access controllers with Wireless Control Module (WCM) such as the Cisco Catalyst 3850 Series Switches and the Cisco 5760 Series Wireless LAN Controllers. New Mobility provides the ability to run Mobility Controller (MC) functionality on a controller in the Converged Access mode with a Catalyst 3850 mobility agent (MA). The Mobility Controller is a part of a hierarchical architecture that consists of a Mobility Agent and Mobility Oracle.
For more information about New Mobility, see the Configuring New Mobility chapter in the Controller configuration guide.
Note |
New Mobility is not supported in Cisco Wireless Release 8.6 and later releases, Cisco IOS XE Release 3.10 and later releases, and Cisco IOS XE Release 16.4 and later releases. |
