Who looks at countries w an abundance of diamonds, gold, iron ore, fertile soil, fishery, forestry, copper, timber, oil etc, and says “we will keep taking these from you, but the future for you, is eco-tourism where you will cater to us, as we come here to rob you and holiday.”

Millions are spent on protecting the forests and safaris in these countries, with v little to nothing done to benefit the people living in or around these protected sites. I just don’t see how countries with such an abundance of essential raw materials, need to rely on tourism.

I’m not willing to elaborate at this stage but the more articles I see about “eco-tourism” being a *sustainable* solution to poverty in countries like Congo, Madagascar, Liberia, the more I feel like they really want these countries to return to colonialism.

i know TERFs are having a field day with this, but, ironically, is there anything that screams internalised misogyny more than feminists reducing the entire woman experience and worth down to the ability of bear children? these people don’t care about anyone, they’re just nasty.

The stories of separated family members and children who’ve already struggled to find stability is deeply upsetting. Duties don’t end once we allow refugees passage into our borders. The whole system is broken, but what academics and lawyers have to say is falling on deaf ears.

But the way in which we operate this system needs to change, because it’s causing distress to traumatised families, and giving refugees less than 24 hours notice to vacate their homes to make way for new refugees is really appalling.

Some 180k Ukrainian refugees have been registered in Berlin (actual number is probably more) since February 2022. Housing is scarce in most major cities, and it’s also quite normal for refugees to be kept in close proximity to each other for simpler processing. I get that.

The last few months have shown that there is definitely a difference in the way Europe makes policies and decisions for refugees, depending on their background. More importantly this is a very important reminder that the way we deal with refugees, generally, is ineffective.

Some families have been living in those properties for years, children have developed a routine and found comfort in these homes, and have established safety and security. The rehousing programme has not even taken into account any of the families’ school or employment commute.

It’s revolting that Afghan refugees have been forced to leave their homes in Berlin, after having sought difficult refuge, and it’s also incredibly dishonest for this to be portrayed as something “normal” + “procedural” because these properties are only “temporary accommodation”

I’m such a spoon stan. I’ll eat anything and everything with a spoon. idc what it is, if I can eat it with a spoon, I’m going to eat it with a spoon, and that includes penne pasta. even with spaghetti, I’ll get a spoon involved to assist the fork for a juicer mouthful.

this is the simplest way I can explain it. obviously, exceptions will exist, but generally, I’m always more likely to side with choice and autonomy. ngl though, you lot should focus on your own views and less on that of random twitter users.

like, I have no strong moral opinion on abortion (you lot love camping in my mentions about abortion tweets). i just think being pro-choice affords the hosts maximum autonomy and it does not compel anyone to have an abortion, whereas being pro-life infringes on my rights.

i get the weirdest DMs about my views on random stuff… a lot of my political views are derived from true libertarianism: i simply don’t care about moral absolutism. whatever affords consenting adults the most freedom about their bodies, is generally what i will side with.

I’m so tired of seeing the same discourse on the timeline. Each time, the conversation is more violent than the last. What is it with you people and your hatred towards diversity and tolerance. Half of you are literally living in multicultural cities, in diaspora, ffs.

Innocent civilians murdered on the holy month of Ramadan. Death toll is reported to be 37 as of late. 7 of those were children. Entire families, gone. Let us also condemn the Pakistani gov in the same way we do with the Israeli gov bc they truly move in the same ways.

Under the Western occupation, people of Khost were brutalized by CIA-backed KPF. Kunar and Khost came under attack by Pakistani rockets. Suffered night raids into their homes. Now Pakistani airstrikes. Two great, beautiful provinces continue to suffer twitter.com/Orzala/status/…
