Lian Li has announced its latest brushed-aluminium case, a mini-ITX box boasting room for up to ten hard drives and aimed firmly at those with larger-than-average storage needs.
Described by the Taiwanese company as 'ideal for users who want to build their own NAS,' the PC-Q26 allows for ten 3.5" hard drives and a single 2.5" drive to be installed simultaneously. For those who need hot-swap capability, a single backplane supporting two drives is bundled with the board while additional backplanes - available for fitting to all ten 3.5" drive bays - can be acquired separately. All drives, meanwhile, are fitted without tools using thumbscrews and featuring rubber suspensions to minimise the transmission of vibrations to the case body.
The PC-Q26 includes three front-facing 120mm intake fans as standard, protected from dust ingress by magnetic filters. A 120mm exhaust fan is placed at the top of the case, while an optional 80mm exhaust fan can be fitted to the rear of the case if required. Additional ventilation is designed into the rear and side panel, while the case is built to operate at a positive pressure - hence the number of intake fans compared to exhaust fans - to prevent dust build-up.
Expansion cards of up to 190mm in length are supported along with CPU heatsinks up to 150mm in height. Power supplies of up to 190mm in length can be fitted, and are raised off the case floor by vibration-damping rubber rails. A front IO panel provides two USB 3.0 ports for additional storage expansion and analogue HD Audio inputs and outputs. The side-panels, meanwhile, pop off quickly for rapid access to internal hardware.
