Job Summary

The Feminist Lenses for Animal Interaction Research Lab in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Colorado Boulder is looking to hire a Research Associate / Professional Research Assistant to assist with an interdisciplinary animal behavior research project.

The goal of this project is to reshape the study of animal behavior in a manner informed by systems thinking and feminist science and technology studies (STS). The Research Associate / Professional Research Assistant for the project will contribute substantively to developing a novel cross-disciplinary framework for studying animal behavior that is rooted in critical thought spanning the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Professional Research Assistant
  • Aid with research by searching through, reading, and synthesizing scholarly work in animal behavior and behavioral ecology, STS, history of science, and related subject areas, and by helping to produce written/multimedia resources to disseminate the work. All work will be conducted under guidance from and in close collaboration with Dr. Ambika Kamath.
Research Associate
  • Aid with research by searching through, reading, and synthesizing scholarly work in animal behavior and behavioral ecology, STS, history of science, and related subject areas, and by helping to produce written/multimedia resources to disseminate the work. All work will be conducted under guidance from and in close collaboration with Dr. Ambika Kamath.

What You Should Know

The position will last one year (tentative start date June 1 2022). The position can be remote.

What We Can Offer

Professional Research Assistant Salary Range: $50,000 to $57,500 annually. Compensation will depend on degree stage and experience.

Research Associate Salary Range at 100% time: $57,500 to $65,000 annually. Compensation will depend on degree stage and experience.

If relocating for this position, a moving allowance of $2500 will be provided.

What We Require

  • Professional Research Assistant Level: A BA/BS is required.
  • Research Associate Level: A Ph.D. is required.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • A degree(s), substantial course work, or a research focus in both Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (ideally with a focus on animal behavior) and one or more of History/History of Science, Anthropology, Sociology, Women and Gender Studies, or other interdisciplinary Social Sciences/Humanities areas of study.
