Changes are on the way for Plus9.

The Current Situation

Westgate Games was built around a mission to ensure ALL Asian developed games make it into the hands of players in the West. Plus9 was our first attempt at living up to this goal by helping developers succeed through increased discoverability of their games and a dedicated community interested in their content.

It's been over a year since Plus9 launched. We've partnered with some amazing developers and publishers and welcomed thousands of players to the community, and we couldn't be more thankful for the support all of you have shown. Unfortunately, it's become clear that some changes are necessary.

While the Plus9 community has continued to grow, we haven't made meaningful progress for our game partners. Players are logging in, reading articles, participating in activities and exploring the platform, but very few folks are actually buying or playing games. This is a problem. If we want to make progress on our mission to bring all games West, we need to find more effective ways of supporting these developers and publishers.

With these challenges in mind, we're announcing some upcoming changes to Plus9 and Westgate Games as a whole.

Game Club and the Shop Are Going Away

First up, Plus9 will no longer be selling games or operating a gaming subscription service. We had high hopes for the platform and while it's clear many of you are aligned with that desire, that hasn't been enough to make these portions of the Plus9 business an effective tool for furthering the Westgate mission.

Over the next 30 days, games will still be available to play, and we will be offering options to secure new copies of titles you've purchased on Plus9, on other platforms. For more info, check out this support article.

The removal of the shop and subscription does not mean the end of Plus9 as a haven for players who love Asian developed games. Following the completion of the shop and subscription shutdown, we will be transitioning Plus9 to better support new initiatives at Westgate. We'll have more information on these exact changes in the future.

Refocusing Our Efforts as Westgate Games

Plus9 was a huge component of our strategy to help bring games West and while we plan to continue to evolve it in new directions, we're also exploring other ways we can serve our mission. To that end, we are refocusing our efforts as a company around directly supporting developers and publishers in tackling Western launches for their games through publishing and marketing support, and more.

We've already signed on with multiple partners to help publish and distribute new games in the West (now on all platforms) and we can't wait to share more news about these upcoming projects with all of you.
