Do I care about all the souls/xp/whatever I've left down there?

Or is this really 'go back and get your xp that you left down there, THEN leave, or else you'll be shooting yourself in the foot by not having all of the tutorial xp and you're underleveled for everything next'.

runes are just rentals. you're gonna lose em a lot this game and it does not matter even a little bit. make peace with it happening sometimes and the game is much more enjoyable (i learned this from hollow knight)

I can "use" a throwing knife from the inventory, which throws it in front of me. Surely that's not how they're supposed to be used in combat? I can't find any way to equip them or keybind them.

the bottom two rows in your equipment menu (which should have your health flask in the top left slot) change the items you cycle through with the down arrow on the dpad. you can lock on with r3 and then use the item to throw it

So down arrow isn't just swapping between health and mana flasks, it's all consumables, and you just spam through it to cycle to the one you want. OK. Prolly won't be using them much anyway, thankfully.

Int and Mind are... Max Mana and Spell Damage? But which is which? It'd be nice if my basic fucking stats didn't require me to ask the internet what they did. I think it's Int.

The descriptions are pretty good I found, I don’t know what platform you are on but I remember the ‘explain these stats to me’ option being very visible. Just don’t ever ask about how weapon damage works.

OK well, I have leveled up my Int, which supposedly "boosts magic power of intelligence-scaling sorceries", and my spell does *not* do more damage. I have concluded that either my spell is not 'intelligence-scaling', or 'magic power' does not mean damage.
