Re: Dwarf Namwah!!!
Way to go Richard, Congragulations. I just got my first Dwarf Namwah pups from South Florida.
Last year I talked to the folks at "Going Bananas" and told them I was looking for a tasty banana for my zone and he recomended the Dwarf Namwah. |

Re: Dwarf Namwah!!!
Bo ------ Last year I let the DN mat branch out by running 2 main pstems. Had to cut the mains down due to the 2 cold snaps. Both had fruit hanging. Right now each main stump has sprouted 5 thick robust pups. They are like 5" in diameter at ground level and only 3' tall. Produced only one or two sword leaves and then went right to fat true leaves. The biggest pup will give this years fruit.
The D Namwah has proved to be the best and most robust cultivar for my area. I have a list of customers waiting for them since I joined a local tropical fruit tree club. Last week had 5 visits in 2 days and they took away 12 of the real big guys - DN, RP and DB that were too big to mail. Hope yours take off well. Being close to water should give you the edge for when it gets cold. Dan |

Re: Dwarf Namwah!!!
Having visited Hydroids house a couple times, I can tell you that he lives in a banana paradise. I don't live far from him but his place is special AND he takes good care of them. I cannot replicate his results.

Re: Dwarf Namwah!!!
Thank you Charlie for those kind words, we will have to get together when I get home from Brazil.
I need to get some ideas from you on landscapping, as your place looks like it was scooped up and put in a tropical paradise as well. As soon as my Namwah starts pupping (and looks like it may be soon), it will have your name on it. Thanks Bo |

Re: Dwarf Namwah!!!
I just read this thread from page 1. Bob, how is yours doiong? Did it flower at all? In 09 - when this started, you were expecting a flower soon. Was this the namwah you got from Mitchel? The one I got from him - just over 2 yrs ago is not as big as the pics here of the dwarf NW's! And I was told it was a reg namwah - not dwarf. Isn't that what you have? Mine now has 5ft P stem & is very FAT at the base so, maybe a flower coming!

Re: Dwarf Namwah!!!
Hello folks. My name is Jorge, (will have to change my user name shortly). I recently bought a dwarf namwah as is currently sitting in my backyard on on a 5 or 7 gal pot. Plant is abt 2-3 feet tal. Will be changing it to a 15 gall pot soon. It has pretty much full sun, here in South Florida, abt 8 hours. I have a few questions please:
1. how much watering do these plants need. Been having a bit of dry spell lately. 2. what type of fertilizer is best for this variety? 3. does this variety like full sun? Anyways, thanks in advance for any suggestions. Jorge |
