New: Zelensky in late night address tonight slams NATO over ruling out no-fly zone. “This is the self-hypnosis of those who are weak, insecure inside, despite the fact they possess weapons many times stronger than we have," he said.

More: Zelensky described NATO's summit on Friday where possibility of a no fly zone was dismissed as “a weak summit, a confused summit…All the people who will die from this day will also die because of you, because of your weakness, because of your disunity."

Natasha Bertrand, May I ask how you feel about NATO creating a no-fly zone? I’m beginning to waiver. Thank you for all you do, every day.

I for one don’t blame him. We have from Putin’s own mouth that he wants to reconstitute the Russian empire/Soviet group of countries so no, he’s not stopping at Ukraine — he’s just eating in pieces, knowing no one will stop him because “oh, well, it’s (X country), not us. Yet.

I don't blame him either.
But I think Putin's reasoning is 'No one will risk nuclear war to stop me'
The question is, is Putin right?

Eh he makes a point. I understand but it basically means Never Again is just a catchy slogan. It's really "never again IF you're a NATO ally, but if you're not...good luck."

Dear media: Please refrain from using the phrase "slams" to describe when a person disagrees with something. It's unprofessional.

Number one way for me not to read an article? The headline contains the word slams.

It seems like NATO countries should have been more honest with him from the beginning. No, we're not going to admit you to NATO; no, we aren't going to fight the Russians for you. The people of Ukraine are important, but their Democracy is not worth WW III.

And when will it stop? You're deluding yourself that it will stop. We are already in WWIII. The price to stop the tyrant will only rise.

Better done by the UN. Bring in volunteer nations to enforce the no-fly and let it be seen that way. Many nations will volunteer and how does Russia retaliate against many nations?

Can’t be done through the UN as Russia holds a veto in the security counsel.

I understand his frustration, can’t even imagine, but by doing a no fly zone and needing to reinforce it, it would mean literal boots on the ground and the start of WWIII… where would it end then?

If fought conventionally, tens or hundreds of millions of deaths. If nuclear, billions likely unfortunately

Desperate times demand desperate measures.
Unfortunately, the situation is a slippery slope, with no end in sight. It's not up to Zelensky, or NATO. It's simply one crazed boogieman, holed up like Howard Hughes.
Those statements, most certainly, do not help.

I don’t blame him. But this is not something we can do for him. The world is bigger than Ukraine.

And Ukraine had the option of neutrality. They rejected it.
2
Exactly why NATO won’t establish one. It also plays right into what Putin really wants — a fight with NATO, specifically the US.

If we establish a no-fly zone, that means nukes. If the world had confidence that it could crush Putin in a few days, I imagine they would do it. But it could be nukes later on anyway. I'm torn

This is a slippery slope argument. It's a fallacious argument.

Perhaps a multi-layered air defense makes more sense. If elements of Ru hardware is 'found' contractors could help cob together AD while exploring Russian systems...
At least one captured Pantsir missile system has been seen used by Ukraine

Ukrainian troops capture Russia's mammoth surface-to-air missile...
The Pantsir-S1 missile system is one of Russia's strongest armed weapons, as it is a medium-range surface to air missile system that can destroy enemies in sky.

What does Zelensky expect? A no fly zone imposed by NATO means war between Russia and NATO.

Yeah Zelensky, we get it, you want nuclear war very badly. That's the point, NATO kind of wants to avoid that.

No, he doesn't. What Zelensky wants is for the killing of his people to stop.

Not wanting WWIII especially with nukes. Hand wringing and the pit in my gut doesn't help squat. I'm bracing for days of evil and will not look away knowing options are bad and worse.

I think he’ll use nukes either way. He keeps going towards nuclear, either threatening to use or capturing the power plants.

Jimmy Carter provided the template of how to quickly give an ally an air force with US planes without having US boots on the ground or in the sky, during the 1979 Yemenite War. Can NATO pull off something similar?

Which template? Can you elaborate on what Carter did? Book / reference?

he's in a very tough ,desperate position and in that sense he's right, he is receiving a lot of aid and some military equipment ,which is great, and there's the sanctions, but the reality is also that ideally Ukraine would need more to do more than slow the invasion
