Ukrainian jets have struck the Russian column north of Kyiv. Can confirm with my own eyes that on day 8 of the war, they're still flying.

I wonder how much intelligence and military advise Ukrainians receive from the US, but I assume it has to be absolutely tremendous.

Every day the Russians and their shills declare complete air superiority over Ukraine.
Every day Ukraine's plucky little "should have been destroyed on day one" air force keep running strikes and other air operations.

I really hope this is true, but the linked article is from yesterday and speaks about earlier dates?

He's posting what has already happened...not where anyone is going...and he better not. But he didn't.

Is this what that imagery of what was said to be a Ukrainian Su-24 bombing a column earlier today relates to? Or is that separate?
Must say, if UkAF Su-24s are still operating that far north in that fashion, hugely impressive.

(I mean it was clearly an Su-24; issue is whether Ukrainian and today)

I thought they were meant to be getting more and were told they weren't available? Unless that's "they're not available... (wink wink nod nod)". I certainly hope it's the latter.

Wouldn't have thought the later. Not something they can sneak over the border. Looks like the EU got scared and backed down.

Totally an armchair general here but isn't it like rule number one when you invade a country to establish air superiority? Does Russia not have an air-force?

Fellow armchair general here, but you're right. Rule No. 1 is to gain complete air superiority over the battlefield, i.e. taking out not just the enemy Air Force but also air defense units and command centres. Looks like Russia forgot about the basics.

How do they manage to get airborne with those huge nuts weighing them down…?

I saw this picture more than 24 hours ago, though. I thought it looked like the column had been hit, but the picture just flashed by on the news without comment. So maybe we're not getting the whole picture on what is going on with the column.

One of the reasons it’s a no on no-fly. As long as Ukraine can contest air space.

"Illustrative photo on Twitter is from a couple days ago, therefore the whole article is fake news"-takes incoming.

Already in this thread. Even though the article clearly says Feb28.

You can tell from a 3 day old picture that pilots bombing columns today need glasses?
