The bright May day Saturday reinforced the optimism as Carnegie Vanguard High School broke ground for its new campus.
Houston ISD’s only Vanguard high school will move from its former elementary school buildings to a new campus between Taft and West Gray in Houston’s Fourth Ward, near downtown.
Carnegie administrators and staff, HISD trustees and parents participated in the ceremonial groundbreaking, which represented years of lobbying and some controversy, to get a campus for one of HISD’s most honored schools.
