It's official - Europe won't transfer fighter planes to Ukraine. Poland decided not to, and Slovakian defense ministry spokesperson confirms to me just now: “Slovakia will not provide fighter jets to Ukraine."

It's probably best for climbing down the escalation ladder vs NATO a bit. Although it would have really helped the Ukrainians.

The United States is not doing enough, either. They deserve more help and the cost of stopping Putin now is less than the cost of stopping him tomorrow.

Aren’t Ukrainian pilots already in Poland to pick them up?

What about Poland acting as a landing platform for NATO jets coming outside of Poland ? For Ukrainian pilots to fly out. Is this still true or also fake news?

This would make them co belligerents under the Geneva convention, triggering world war 3. Bad idea

Bosnians warned everyone day one that Europe won't help. They let bombings go on for 1500 days in Sarajevo in the 90's.

If true, they shouldn't have been so public about it in the first place. They could have transferred them behind the scenes but they wanted to grandstand for likes.

“Likes.” What possible use would a country’s military have for likes? Social media is but a fraction of public opinion in any event.

Slovakia might not wish to make any obvious statements until Russian maintenance staff for its Mig 29s dont have access anymore. Russian state owned company provides this service. This is just speculation though

Also bear in mind that Slovakia et al. will want a fair price for Migs to facilitate their own armament, as well as coverage of the subsequent capability gap by a NATO partner. In slovak case this will be until 2023 when F16Vs come online

They probably decided they need them for their own defense

I think that they try to hide it, that's why they say they won't transfer them.

I hope you are right. My heart broke when I read this. I fear without this help Ukraine will not survive, and the door will be open to the rest of us. This is the start of WWIII whether NATO likes it or not.

Seems like conflicting reports are meant to disguise what’s really happening. But I’d be surprised if this were true

Probably. They reffered that jets cannot have landing base at NATO teritory, but no words about transfering them to UA!

Stingers are far more effective right now. Fighters are far more vulnerable. They require working airfields, fuel, munitions, crew. Jets and hardening airfields are all closing the barn door after the horse has gotten out. Shoulder fired weapons are the way to go.

The Fog of War is getting a little stupid. Yesterday it was confirmed that Ukrainian pilots were in Poland to pick up the fighter planes. If so, I'm assuming they already left. So who is trying to cover their asses here?

Poland probably. Ukraine needs to stop announcing every little thing.

Idk where this info came from in the first place. Slovakia cannot provide jets to Ukraine. Out of the 12 MiG-29 only very few examples remain operational. We also need the non-operational ones for the spare parts. False info from the beginning. We need them until new F-16 arrive.

Same with Bulgaria.
They and especially Borell forgot the simple rule: Think first, talk later. What an amateurish move!

reported that Poland supplied 27 or more MiG-29s to Ukrainian pilots 13 hours ago. Did Ukraine get them or no?

But what for ? A fighter needs an airport base with technicians, tons of adequate missiles, it's not a car.

“We are not going to send any jets into Ukrainian airspace” Poland said. Meaning that ukranian pilots will. Same with Slovakia, they will probably just delivery them to Poland, to be stolen by some random dude that speaks ukrainian..

US/NATO need to get involved. If the US aerial bombed Russian convoys for 48 to 72 hours, Russia would have give up the fight. Russia does not want nuclear war.
