Believe me, two absolutely different scenarios. There aren't 170,000 troops, tanks, artillery and air power on Russia's border within striking distance of the capital.

Who benefits? Always ask. Always follow the money. Who benefits from chaos and lack of monetary liquidity. Who is funding all these protests? Who needs more inflation and higher interest rates? Who benefits from higher interest rates?

This is how Russia tries to shield itself from accusations that it's reneging on a promise to continue diplomacy on Monday - a "dire provocation" that requires "Russia to protect itself". Not that anyone will be fooled.
