This is fairly typical of the Russians and Russians serving in the army

When soldiers are crewing some of the oldest equipment known to man and about to invade a neighboring country thinking that stuff is suppose to protect them why is anyone surprised that they are drunk history-ing their way through the whole event.

I wonder how many might defect once inside Ukraine. I know ZERO about war or Russia but is this a possibility? I can't imagine being a Russian soldier staged on the border in winter for weeks. Where do they sleep? Eat? Get warm? For what? To die in an unprovoked attack?

Defect to the underdog? Not likely.

If I knew the Wagner group will kill me or a random bunch of my mates for the much heralded false flag (superb IO job Pentagon) I'd get drunk too.

Yes, but untrained, drunk soldiers can be quite lethal and efficient. Eg, interahamwe in Rwanda, 1994 (obv very diff context and conflict - genocide vs invasion). But don’t assume disheveled, undisciplined troops are going to be easy to neutralize.

But all I have been hearing from the GOP is how much more masculine and better Russia’s military is compared to ours…

Being drunk makes people feel more manly I suppose...

They may overpower our forces eventually but our guys are going to apply pain that will make waves all the way to Moscow.

This is very much not a surprise. I can imagine them running into the 50-something Ukraine matron I saw, standing at her perfectly sparkling kitchen window with her rifle and a determined look on her face.

Can also be disinfo.
But yes, they have found their way in to Berlin and Paris intoxicated.

When you put men in a position of limbo for many months, they're going to find booze.

True, true, inaction is a killer for men.

Putin apparently thinks going to war with an army uninterested in fighting is a great idea. Kgb idiot learned nothing from Afghanistan.

If it wasn't for drunk Russian troops, my grandmother might never have been sneaked by them to escape the Russian zone back to her family in Frankfurt after surviving the Ravensbruck concentration camp.

Ooh it seems like Lukashenko's love affair with the Putin regime doesn't quite extend to his citizenry.

Those poor people are living in constant fear, in a cruel dictatorship, trying to survive. They haven't been consulted in this whole century. This is why L. needs P.
