Two critical statements by Biden just now:
1. US has intelligence that Putin has made the decision to further invade Ukraine.
2. The invasion will go all the way to Kyiv, a city of 2.9m people.
Europe—the world—won’t be the same if Biden is right.

Technically, he said “target” Kyiv. This could take the form of [non-nuclear] decapitation strikes against command and leadership targets in Kyiv, a la US strikes on Baghdad in 2003.
That said, now might be a good time for an impromptu ski trip in Transcarpathia.

Then thank god. I hope he is wrong.

I mean, it's dumb to think the largest military with a budget far surpassing the 2nd largest wouldn't be able to sometimes gather significant and concrete intelligence; Regardless of if they're wrong sometimes.

And...if Biden's wrong? February 16 came and went, and now we get exactly the same spiel! Another week of "imminent invasion"? And then another week, and another?

Well, this is certainly a case where I’m hoping the intelligence is wrong!

Europe-the world-didn't change when Putin did the same in Georgia, though. Europe is not a united entity, it's a bunch of old countries with more or less successful russian lobbies.

As the Russians have already blown a pipeline, or something else that caused a horrific explosion, I guess biden is correct.

It's possible that they are overconfident in their abilities. History has 100 examples

I think the damage is already done. They are going to invade, but this crisis has so badly weakened Russia-Western relations, that Europe's security environment has fundamentally changed for the worse, for the long term. The implications go beyond Ukraine.

Wayyy beyond. Europe will remilitarize and all of it will happen in our modern social media environment

Where is the Ukrainian army?
It's gonna be a big scandal if they don't protect their country.

You're right. At least partially. But intelligence on Twitter is nearly non-existent.

No one will ever take anything this administration says seriously again if Putin doesn't.

He didn't say maybe, or perhaps. He said it's gonna happen. That's pretty high certainty or very high level disinformation
