Testing and Hospitalizations

As of February 15, 8:00 am

  • Total patients tested for COVID-19 at Michigan Medicine since the pandemic began (includes pending tests): 348,458
  • Total positive tests: 20,558
  • Tests pending (waiting for results): 234
  • Current inpatients that are COVID-19 positive: 49
  • Pediatric patients that are COVID-19 positive: 8
  • Total COVID-19 patients discharged to date: 4,841
  • COVID-19 patients discharged yesterday: 8

Type of COVID-19 Patient

The infographic below shows the University of Michigan Health COVID-19 patient count for the date shown by:

  • Vaccination status (vaccinated or unvaccinated)
  • Type of treatment needed (hospitalized, intensive care or on a ventilator)
  • Whether the patient has one or more of the following*: significant underlying lung disease, immunocompromised, age 65 or older

Employee Vaccination Data

As of January 11, 2022:

  • Number of Michigan Medicine employees: 22,572*
  • Fully vaccinated (of 23,562): 94.1%
  • Partially vaccinated | On track to be fully vaccinated: 0.10%
  • Approved Exemptions: 4.50%
  • Non-Compliant: 1.20% were not compliant with the mandate.

*Note: Does not include 9,575 union employees who have varying vaccination percentages by their union. Union employees were not covered by the original mandate and were not required to report their status. See below for update regarding these employees.

Update regarding mandated vaccination for bargained-for employees: Current regulations issued by Medicare require that Michigan Medicine employees receive their first vaccination or request an exemption by January 27. Following the Supreme Court decision on January 13 to uphold the Medicare vaccine mandate, Michigan Medicine has begun working with union leaders to prepare for complying with the January 27 vaccination deadline.
