Kawaii fashion is all about that sexy, cute, sweet and innocent side of the Japanese culture. While we are used to seeing the kawaii side of Japan, we don't always see it in our own country or in the world around us. It's okay! We know it's just a phase and it will pass.

How to sew your own Lolita Dress
Here’s a very simple tutorial on how to make your own Kawaii Lolita Dress. I think it’s time that we start making our costumes. This dress is as easy as 1,2,3!
First you will need a pattern and fabric that matches the pattern on the dress. You can use fabric patterns for clothing like this or patterns for accessories like these ones, but it’s easier to use paper patterns. Supplies needed: long cotton thread (I used 5/8″) Sewing kit and scissors Diagonal cutting scissors A kawaii print (optional) Fabric scissors A sewing machine with machine needle, thread and ruler Instructions: 1 – Cut exact size of fabric to fit the pattern 2 – Cut 2 pieces of fabric to make one rectangle for the body 3 – Fold in half along a diagonal 4 – Cut out pattern to fit body 5 – Sew/stitch over all sides 6 – Change colors of thread when sewing 7 – Take out picture frame Printable PDF with step by step photos Step 1: In order to get an exact picture, you need to cut your fabric into the same width as your pattern. Now measure the length of both sides of your pattern (excluding seam allowances) and add seam allowance so they make a rectangle 13 inches by 22 inches (33 cm x 57 cm). Here are some examples: Example #1 14 inches by 22 inches Example #2 16 inches by 22 inches Here are some examples of different fabrics Examples #1 example #2 example Example #3 example In order to get an exact picture, you need to cut your fabric into the same width as your pattern. Now measure the length of both sides of your pattern (excluding seam allowances) and add seam allowance so they make a rectangle 13 inches by 22 inches (33 cm x 57 cm). Here are some examples:
Example #1 14 inches by 22 inches Example #2 16 inches by 22 inches here are some examples of different fabrics Examples #1 example #2 example Example #3 example Step 2: You just need two rectangles lying on each other with no seams at all. The reason why I say “lying on each other” rather than “one side only” is because if you look at one side only, it will be narrower than another side and if you look at both sides, they should be wider than one another. To do that, lay them together in front so no seams meet between them but with right angles
Kawaii Trends - What is trending and why should you care?
Kawaii is the Japanese word for cute, and it is a Japanese term that refers to any item with an aesthetic appeal of a child. In a way, it is a catch-all term for Japan’s growing fascination with kawaii, which is also known as kawaii culture or kawaiism.
That same word has other meanings in Japan, too. Kawaii can be used to describe high-quality items such as cute and charming designs or items that are overly cute. Some people call it “cute” because the word itself makes them feel happy when they think of it. The word “kawaii” also means “cute” or “pretty good” in English, although some people say that the sound of the word “kawaii” sounds similar to “cat ears.”
What do all of these words mean? They all have one thing in common: they are all used interchangeably to describe items that make people feel happy when they think about them.
