They should though, exactly because of this reason. They constantly get bullied by russia for petty, childish reasons and russia should have already been punished for the provocation alone. They have zero right to essentially tell another country what they can and can't do.

Let #Ukraine President step down and welcome an election or just call @KremlinRussia_E & say we join Russia for all future purpose. There will be no escalation of tension no need for US to send funds derived from its tax payers money; let President @JoeBiden enjoy a vacation
Russia has enough playgrounds in the mid-east to war in. They don't want war with NATO and vice versa. They'll take the concession of a signed declaration from Ukraine never to join NATO and the de-escalation process will begin, tho diplomacy re the Minsk agreements will rage on

The reason Ukraine wants to join NATO is for protection against Russian aggression. It's why *ALL* of the countries that border Russia want to join NATO and many have.

Wow, hold up! I took the liberty of listening to the interview with the Ukrainian Ambassador to the U.K. on BBC Radio 5, he actually denied at 1:21:00 that he believes Ukraine will remove its goal on joining NATO. Listen at 1:21:00. My transcript below. bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0

Which countries are neighbours to Ukraine? Do they not comprise of NATO members? Moldova also cooperates with NATO - though neutrality is enshrined in its constitution.

Is this just about Ukraine not joining NATO - so he can go in and invade w/o NATO members joining? Are aspirations only tied to invading Ukraine? Or is there long term expansionism goals, and being emboldened by a successful invasion? If yes, there are neighbouring NATO members.

I’m sorry to disagree, but the ambassador’s faltering English confused the reporter who heard something that wasn’t said. The reporter tried to clarify the answer by repeating the question, and again, the answer is far from a clear and definitive “yes”. It’s just not there.

Also, people arguing that he feels threatened with Ukraine joining NATO (does not make sense). As there are neighbours that are NATO members.
