Putin's aide Yuri Ushakov says that during the phone call, Putin tried to school Biden on his version of history (just as he did with Macron). Basically, Putin's lead-in to "Look what you made me do."

Classic Putin! We all know that Biden gave him every last chance to solve this diplomatically!
Also this is not 1990, nobody wants a war but we are also right beside our allies and will act accordingly.

Projecting, projecting, projecting
always be projecting. Just tell people whatever you want them to believe. Then do it over and over and over again. Until it becomes reality. It's really that simple isn't it.

I hope Biden simply said "Fuck around and find out" and then hung up...

"Look what you made me do" was likely the same strategy/tactic used by Trump when he (privately) sought a legal immunity agreement from Biden and his team.
Trump continued to ramp up the rhetoric & pressure from the election up to the January 6 event in order to seal the deal.

Does anybody else see that Putin is using the same tactic Trump used against Biden by ramping up threats to negotiate a deal?
Instead of using the threat of an insurrection to negotiate prosecution to stand-down, Putin is using the threat of war to demand NATO stand-down.

Putin is basically a passionate Soviet nostalgist, but has not acknowledged that Russia is no longer as powerful as USSR and thinks that he could turn back time to the good old days.

this is a pipe dream.
putin is intent on reforging the former soviet empire.
appeasement is not going to make this better.
this narrative of yours is pointless.

There is no off ramp for if he continues down this path. He will get his “Beria Moment.”

Is he mentally OK.
This long list of grievances in absolutely every conversation now does not sound as at his usual level of "ебнутый".

Putin’s big accomplishments- Sochi, Brexit, trump, the rising Right, Crimea, Syria, Iran, etc, were all years ago. Now? Covid, collapsing economy & shrinking population in Russia, sanctions remain, NATO & EU stronger, etc
An old man hoping to restore glory? Or a mobster at risk?

Too many are buying this thread. It's kind of like Trump's claiming he won in 2020. Neither narrative is reality but so many are predisposed for one reason or another to believe them.

Not that it matters, but has there ever been any action or even hint of intent from the west to invade and occupy Russia? The idea is laughable. On the other hand, Russia has a robust history of territorial expansion.
Not that it matters…

England did a bit of military adventurism in Russia during their revolution. Not sure of the details. It was small and to no effect but the Soviets loved to highlight it.

Biden should have asked Putler, if he knew the length of the NATO/RU "border".

Too bad for Putin that Joe was part of the US Foreign Relations community during that time period and knows what actually went on.
