ST. LOUIS (AP) โ Several historically Black universities across the country reported bomb threats Tuesday, the first day of Black History month, just 24 hours after six schools received threats.
At least six HBCUs in five states and the District of Columbia responded to bomb threats Monday, with many of them locking down their campuses for a time.
The recent uptick in bomb scares comes less than a month after a series of bomb threats were made to multiple historically Black universities Jan. 4.
Morgan State University, Howard University, Jackson State University, Alcorn State University, Mississippi Valley State University, Kentucky State University, Fort Valley State University, Xavier University of Louisiana and Harris-Stowe State University all reported bomb threats on Tuesday morning.
Harris-Stowe State University in St. Louis closed for several hours Tuesday after the historically Black school received a bomb threat.
The university said in a news release that the campus reopened Tuesday afternoon after an investigation by St. Louis police and the FBI. A search of the campus turned up nothing threatening.
All classes were moved to remote learning only for the rest of the day. All campus activities were called off for the day and employees were sent home.
