Announcing Days of Love 2022

Friendship is in the air once again—Sky’s Days of Love event approaches! From 00:00 February 7 through 23:59 February 20 (PST, UTC-8) Home is transformed anew to mark the occasion for players to celebrate moments together with their friends and loved ones.

One figure who is particularly ready for this event is currently a familiar face in Home: the Auspicious Visitor who first arrived for Days of Fortune and will be extending their visit for Days of Love. We were curious to learn what led to their decision to stay for this event, so we sat down with them to find out more.

Smiling behind their mask, the Spirit happily explained. “It’s been incredible so far! After meeting so many people, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to spend more time with these new friends. So it was easy deciding to stay a little longer as the Days of Love event Spirit!” They cheerfully listed the plans they have in store for players to enjoy.

“Fireworks are exciting, but I want to give Sky children a chance to share tranquil moments with others, too. Once Days of Love begins, I’ll put the fireworks away, redecorate this pier with a new floral theme, and bring in Light that everyone can gather—up to a certain amount each day, of course, so that there’s enough to go around.” They also gave us a peek of a new accessory they’re preparing for players:

• Days of Love Flower Crown Hair Accessory: 15 Hearts

“Do you think people will like it?” they wondered apprehensively, confiding that it’s the first time they’ve made flower crowns for someone else.

Their eyes glittered when they heard that a new item coming to the in-game shop during the event will allow a player and their friend to chat while drifting gently across the water:

“How lovely!” the Spirit remarked. “It looks so peaceful to see others floating along on the water, spending a quiet moment together. Maybe they’ll wave hello if they pass by my pier!”

Asked if they planned to bring anything else for friends to enjoy, the Auspicious Visitor nodded and pointed to a diminutive boat-shaped container nearby. “This will have spells to try the Gondola, and Sky children can find free spells for message boats that are temporarily transformed into cranes. There wasn’t room left here for snow-themed Ball Spells, but those can still be found in the Secret Area in Vault of Knowledge!”

• Days of Love Gondola Spell: 2 Hearts (available in addition to the free IAP trial spell)

• Days of Love Message Crane Spell: Free (or 6 Candles for three spells from the Sleepy Traveling Merchant’s boat)

• Ball Spell: 2 Candles for five spells in the Secret Area

“I’m sure there are Sky children who want to know more about the items from previous years,” our affable Spirit added. “Please let them know that everyone can see what’s available by going to the Secret Area and chatting with the Event Staff there!” For players who prefer to focus on those items, previews can be found in our blog post from past year here.

As in other events, trial spells of all items available for purchase and in-game currency are available for free in Home and the Secret Area.

Before long, the Auspicious Visitor had to return to finish making the flower crowns for their new friends ahead of February 7th. While everyone gets ready for the celebrations in-game, though, we also have a way for players to take some fun into the community, too, with a Days of Love screenshot challenge!

Days of Love Screenshot Challenge

From 00:00 February 7th through 9th at 23:59 (all times PST, UTC-8), take a screenshot of your own avatar in the decorated Days of Love event space or using any of the event items for a chance to win in-game prizes! Enter by posting your screenshot on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #SkyDaysOfLove22, or in special threads on Discord and Facebook that we’ll open once the challenge begins. Entries can include friends, but they must feature your own Sky character to be counted. Image galleries and subtle filters are acceptable, but edits should be kept to a minimum. ⁣Please note that only one entry will be counted per person, and prizes cannot be transferred to others. Entries will close on February 9th at 23:59.

Each winner will receive the Days of Love Gondola Pack. Four winners will be randomly selected, and one winner will be selected by the thatgamecompany team based on creativity (30%), storytelling (30%), and quality of execution (40%). Winners can expect to be contacted and announced by the end of February 16th. Best of luck to those taking part in the challenge!
