Why are you taking the JLPT?

I did a gap year in Japan volunteering in a Red Cross hospital in Hiroshima. My biggest regret was not continuing Japanese when I returned home to complete med school. Now I’m (much) older, yet I want to correct that. I return to Japan every few years to explore more and each time, try to pick up where I left in terms of language. Ive done a few days already and it sticking much faster than when I studied alone. I’m really looking forward to the rest of the course and feel motivated to take it beyond N5. Can’t wait to practice once Japan opens up again after the pandemic.

To learn a new skill mainly as a hobby, to improve and enrich the mind, as an older person I think it is very important to keep the mind active. and also one day I hope to visit Japan to take part in the Tokyo marathon. I also enjoy Japanese films and dramas so it would be nice to watch without subtitles.

I studied JLPT N5 level by myself. I bought a lot of books and I watched a lot of YouTube channels.And I did it. The main reason is I want to work in Japan.I also want to live in Japan too.I love Japan. What level is convenient to work in Japan Sensei? How’s about N3? I need your suggestions Sensei.

at the beggining i tried to learn bymyself, but i didnt had any idea if what i just learned was right and didnt had anyone who correct me... so, i decided to learn the japanese languaje correctly and i found chika sensei on instagram haha!, i readed all the info (very complete by the way) and it was just what i was looking for! i decided to learn japanese not for job or school, but because i want to travel to japan in a near future and be able to express what i think and be able to make friends, i think that it will be a better experience and also because i love history, culture, anime and tv of this country, it will be definetly great to understand everythig. greetings from Monterrey México!!!

I lived one year in Japan, but i lost a lot of langage knowledge so i decided to follow this class. The one lesson everyday is the best way to keep evolving and not forget so much. Even if you are too busy some times, you just have to do all lessons you missed. you can work at your own rythm, and have Chika sensei's advices/correction is really helpfull. I think in only one month i almost found back the japanese level i had 2 years ago. PS : sorry for my bad english haha

I wanted to learn Japanese originally to communicate while on holiday. Since the holiday I have continued learning. The main reasons for this were to understand Japanese film in there original language and to communicate better with Japanese friends. I had take the JLPT N4 on 2 occasions and failed both times so I chose Chika Sensei's course as a way to revise and review the material. To keep motivated I try to make sure that I do fun things involving using Japanese, regular Skype calls with Friends, watch Japanese film and TV, taking part in Japanese cultural events. This way I can use Japanese in a fun "non" learning environment. I have a dream of living in Japan one day and while that may be a long way off, I remember that and the smaller goal I set for myself every day.

I want to learn JLPT to make my work efficiency and I want to change my job by improving Japanese language. I can fluently chat with my Japanese colleague as well as with my son’s teacher in playgroup school.

Everyone here has various connections to Japan. Here, I will share my story. I interested in Japan since I was a child, the day my elder brother bought me a manga book- one piece. 1. The first reason is that I really like Japanese mindset. The Japanese are really amazing, how their minds are really constructed, how they can be so creative. That's how I fell in love with Japanese dramas, manga, and anime. I love anything that has to do with Japanese creation. 2. I couldn't understand Japanese conversation! I didn't make any effort to learn Japanese as a child. I just listened through drama or anime for a long time and I thought I could understand simple Japanese. When I met Japanese people who came for vacation, I would eavesdrop on what they were talking about. Unfortunately, I didn't know the content of the sentences except for the basic words, I had totally no idea what they were saying, which made me sad. Did you have this experience too? 3. Dreams. When I graduated from secondary school at the age of 16, I was confused and I didn't know what to do with my future. At that time, I had been influenced by a manga that I had been following since primary school, one piece. When I was 16, one piece was at its climax, and because of this dreamy story, I decided to follow my dream too! It was then that I enrolled in my dream course and became the first university student in my family. It was this dream that made me who I am now. However, now I have just turned 30, and in the Chinese mindset 30 is the time to start settling down. But, from what I see at Japanese people mindset, I see a different kind of hope! I believe that everyone's success is at different stages and it is never too late to work hard. By loving the Japanese, I discovered the truth that for quite a number of successful people always happened in the second half of their 30s and so on. So why should I give up on my life so early when I am just entering 30's? I can still work hard to achieve better lifestyle. Especially when I look at most Japanese actors who had been worked for life on their career, but some only getting more and more famous after they reach 30s, or even 40s or even 50s. They are still working so hard on their dreams in different ages. So why can't I follow my dream when I'm only 30? Why should we stop learning when the other are still working so hard to improve themselves? So I decided to follow my dream this time too! Although I don't have a clear goal for my 'dream', maybe I will become a realtime translator, maybe a literary translator, or maybe I can't be a translator, but I can handle communicate with Japanese, maybe become a diplomat for the local and Japanese business's company. I didn't know how far I could go yet, but future are always full of possibilities and I decided to create all kinds of possibilities. So I started to learn Japanese in relation to my "dream". Taking JLPT test, and make a target for myself. No matter what reason you have, from the moment you reading comment here, it's all because you love japanese. So, just go ahead. Chika sensei's lesson always show us many possibilities.

Yes, life is never stop learning. Let's work hard together, we all can make it. 一緒にがんばってましょう

When my husband retires next year, he says we will spend one month in Japan, exploring & soaking in the culture & enjoying the food. Being proficient in Japanese will help a lot!

my Australian nephew lives in Gifu with his Japanese wife and son. I usually travel there most years - and I like to be able to have a basic conversation with his wife and her family, knowing a little Japanese makes the travel more enjoyable.

My motivation to learn the japanese language is both on personal and professional needs. Professionally, my job requires me to be always in the front line. This is the only skill that i do not have to be more effective on my job. On personal level, it is easier to live in a country if there is no language barrier.
