There were methods of payment before SWIFT.
This is exactly what was warned about during the pipeline construction.
Also reason for LNG port and ship construction in US.

Why would Europeans have no gas in that scenario? You predict that suppliers responsible for another half of Europe gas imports would also stop pumping? And internal european gas extraction suddenly stop as well?? Why? What if other suppliers could boost their supplies?

Wonder what they will do without the money they won't get by not selling their gas. Wasn't the Russian economy in free fall just yesterday? I guess Putin must think the ruble can withstand yet more pressure.

There are no alternatives to SWIFT for cross border payments processing between Europe and Russia.
