Well, the stuff I do find tells me that Penders was the one to initiate the lawsuits, mostly over copyright of his characters, Sega and EA making something super similar to his own stories and Archie failing to get a W due to not getting the contract that stated Penders was-

Your information is incredibly poor. None of the pre-reboot material can ever be used because NO ONE who worked on the book ever signed any WFH contract. (And post-reboot actually has problems I can’t go into at this time.)

Actually, Archie won on SABRINA and JOSIE, as Dan had very poor legal representation. It’s Dan’s creation Cheryl Blossom that was left an open question in the end. Since Dan, his sons and - I believe - his wife are deceased, there’s really no one to continue the fight.

Besides Filmation Archie/Sabrina and Hanna-Barbera Josie and the Pussycats, DIC did 2 Archie cartoon incarnations and 2 Sabrina cartoon incarnations (DIC also did Sonic the Hedgehog Sat AM which was adapted from Archie's Sonic comic book).

Actually, the Sat AM Freedom Fighters appeared in the Archie Sonic comic book first in late 1992 before the Sat AM cartoon premiered in Fall 1993.

Paul Castiglia created a prototype for the 1st issue which SEGA rejected for whatever reason. Darryl Edelman was then brought on as Editor and soon after Mike Gallagher and were hired to make comics history.

Why yes there! We should also notice that Johnny Lightfoot and Porker Lewis also appear, and they appear not just in the later drafts of Sega's own Sonic Bible(alongside Sally), but they were instead used in Sonic The Comic.

Yep, Sally Acorn looked like DIC's Cleo of Heathcliff and the Catillac Cats fame but wearing a red dress and having blonde hair in this pre-production Sonic the Hedgehog animated cartoon scene.

I personally like her later design a lot. Maybe because I'm very much more of a SegaSonic fan, but those bracelets are also really neat. Especially since they're not just accessories, they make some kinda plasma weapons that allow her to gain an upper hand on her foes.

I didn't grow up with either, even if I was exposed to Sally's classic design early on with Sonic Mega Collection Plus on the PS2. Most of my experience with the series as a whole is the video games. So my love of the video games over all might be why I prefer Sally's new look.

Didn't the whole "Sally's Gay/Bi" come around because Sega told them to not give Sonic a girlfriend again?
That's what I heard, at least. And in regards to the weapons... She never seemed worse as a fighter with them, if anything, she seemed to perform better.

Amy does have a crush on Sonic, but Sega never made them a couple in any media, despite hinting at some things in Unleashed and Sonic X.
And Archie was basically Anti-Sonamy, in a way. Sally was the focus, Sally got the man. And then came Fiona. And Bunny. And Mina.

There are states here in the US where a 13-yr-old can marry someone in their 40’s, as repugnant as that reality is. Sally was 16 to Geoffrey’s 20, so I don’t see a problem given the relationship in Royal history.
