The new New Braunfels Middle School building is nearing completion ahead of the 2021-22 school year.

Representatives from Stantec engineering and Drymalla Construction Company, the companies overseeing the project, gave an update to NBISD board members during the June 21 meeting.

Construction on the $54 million school is anticipated to be completed by July 17 once kitchen equipment is installed, tiling is completed and the floors are cleaned and waxed.

Funding for the project was included in the district’s 2018 bond program and construction began in July of 2019.

Once open, the school will have capacity for 1,500 students and will replace the existing New Braunfels Middle School. The new building is located next to Klein Road Elementary School on South Walnut Avenue.
