Such behaviour from TGA is just going to deter publishers from funding high quality racing/sports sim (or any other genre which is not 3rd person cinematic game) since publishers will know there work will mostly go unrecognised.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe wasn't nominated for GOTY in 2017 and has the same Metacritic score as FH5. Nintendo should really stop funding the series as the game wasn't recognized.
Who cares it's about to sell 40+ million copies!

I am more concerned about why there is no nomination "Best Racing", but there is "best fighting". Racing in 2021: Horizon 5, MotoGP 21, RiMS Racing, Hot Wheels, F1 2021, WRC 10, etc...

I will never understand wtf the game to win those awards have to be a cinematic story focused game.
Why?
A game is a game. No matter the genre or the budget.
The game of the year should be the best game of that year.
Not the best cinematic experience.

That list of "best content creators" was a joke too, hadn't heard of any of them and places like Digital Foundry getting snubbed is a joke. I guess we can wait and see if the BAFTAs are any better.

I disagree that players should get an equal say. It's not a popularity contest. If you did that with the Oscars, F9 The Fast Saga could win best picture. A gaming version of the Academy with devs past & present is a good idea.
I'd love to hear from the current jury on this.
