Even to this day a lot of Assyrians are taught their faith this way. This is partly why I found it such a blessing that our local seminary and monastery published the entire shhimo in Swedish the other year

This was the case in the Syriac Orthodox Church too. I've heard illiterate retell our faith and synaxariums without fault, and they were only ever taught by attending the daily prayers. To this day, people go to their local parishes daily for the daily prayers twitter.com/cedarism/statu
