  50. I like how Chiyo's speech style became less formal throughout the course of the show. Sakaki's, too. It shows they really started to fit in.

  78. I actually think Chiyo-chan looks really cute without her pigtails. She fits in that hairstyle. I think women look good in short hair overall (and men look good with long hair).

  123. Dammit, Mediaworks needs to remake the series with all the same dialogue and music, but animation that's like a cross between this and the original series.  Give this series its due!

OVA's also get a bit more budget but the main reason this had a higher quality was because this was released as a teaser during the showing of another movie, as a teaser to the upcoming tv series. Since it was produced for the Big screen the quality was better, plus it was a short scene so they didn't have to stretch resources over a 26 episode season.

  151. I've seen them sometimes drawn on men, but rarely on women. They almost always draw it on Chinese, Korean, or Central Asian chars, usually represented by just a slit, i.e. Brock from Pokemon. The only distinguishing feature they give westerners is blonde hair and blue eyes. And/or the eyes would be drawn more realistically.

  172. But as cute as the human characters are with this attention to detail, Tadakichi-san looks freakin' weird at 0:21. He's much cuter and looks more like a real dog in the series.

  259. It's not improvement, actually the final style is what Azuma's style looked like by the end of the series, and the style in this short is how it looked like in the beginning.

  360. I would have thought Osaka > Kagura > Tomo, but nope. I think Osaka tries to do her best, but doesn't get good results because she doesn't understand things very well … Tomo and Kagura are more like "why bother, I suck at this XD" but IMO Tomo is more so than Kagura. Kagura is more mature.

  429. The animation is nice, I agree, but I prefer the older style. Everything looks too plastic and glossy in this. It's not bad in any way, but the original style is better imo even with the animation limitations.
