8月から10月にかけてイタリア・ポルトガルなどで突然αの僅かなスパイクが見られたが、結局その後は特別注意を払われずにシークエンスはδのみに集中していった。このαと認識された検体はオミクロンのクラスターではなかったかという興味深い話。

SARS-CoV-2オミクロン株の感染性と免疫回避の強弱を混同してはいけないとの重要な指摘。
さらにこの変異株の病原性の強弱は未知かつ最重要。
個人的な興味は、長期的にはウイルスが宿主と共存するために弱毒化するという原則がSARS-CoV-2でも当てはまるか、その転換点がいつ訪れるのか、今なのか、です

I think there's perhaps been some confusion regarding transmissibility vs immune escape in Omicron. The apparent rapid increase in frequency of Omicron in Gauteng does not mean that Omicron is necessarily more intrinsically transmissible than Delta. 1/15
