I bought this cover slide to insure privacy on my 2016 15" MacBook Pro and 2017 iMac. It is very thin, so it still allows my laptop to close and go to sleep. It is totally unobtrusive so I'm not even aware that it's installed. It is very easy to open and close the privacy shield, and foolproof camera security.

Here's a quick installation hint to make sure you position it properly. Turn on Facetime so that the camera is active and showing an image. You can then be sure you're positioning the cover correctly before you push down to make sure it adheres.

I'd buy this product again.

TOO THICK FOR NEW MACBOOK PROS - Breaks Screen

So I really liked this item and the design, but I have a 2019 macbook pro and it broke me screen. My screen first got a horizontal pixel line right in through the middle of the camera cover. One day later the screens stopped working for it all together.

I took my computer to the apple store and they said they see this all the time. They are two thick for the new macbook pros and over time, the break the screen. They did say they are fine for the older macbook pros, but not the new ones.

Be warned! Luckily, my computer was still under warranty.

They do the job they are intended for. They are smaller than I imagined, I included pictures with a quarter and penny for scale. You don't even notice it on my laptop.

-They also have a magnet in them that holds the "door" open or closed
-Come in a box with instructions and a microfiber cloth.
-Very high quality for such a cheap and small item

I'm not one to think NSA or the FBI is watching me, but just something about staring at that camera all the time, knowing the technology exists that someone could be watching me, even if its a 0.001% chance, it's still worth the $5 to cover the camera up. This thing is so small and discrete that no one will see it and think you're paranoid. Unnoticeable

All Three Items Failed Within Two Days ! Caveat Emptor ! (See my "2¢ Solution" Below)

I have a lot of experience with mounting adhesive items. I clean the mounting surface with fresh alcohol. I peel the protective covering off carefully using a special artist's knife. I place the item with tweezers in exactly the right place and press hard against the mounted item with continuous pressure for 45 seconds. For years, this method has caused the job to NEVER fail. Because this item is so tiny with almost no substantial adhesive area to hold it on, these devices are doomed to early death. (Incidentally, you will need a professional crime site forensic team to find any one of these that fall to the floor.

These tiny items, when mounted on computer glass surfaces around tiny lenses held for two days. Then all three failed and fell off and two disappeared altogether. It was like an episode of Candid Camera. I expected Allen Funt to pop out and say, "Smile, You're On Candid Camera! Not so funny tho when you've worked hard to mount these items on three different computers and they all fail. I can pretty much guarantee that they will not last on any cell phone glass or other portable item if the phone is in a case or lives in a purse. "Caveat Emptor." Buyer Beware!

I now use a small neatly cut tiny strip of paper (or "non-paper) dressing tape from a tape roll or dispenser like Nexcare Sensitive Skin Tape or Band-Aid Brand First Aid Hurt-Free Medical Adhesive Paper Tape. Sticks forever and prevents any image from passing through. In a few months you will want a fresh look and these will peel-off without leaving any residue for about 2¢ per patch. Note: I fold a tiny end piece flap over to keep the tape from being difficult to remove when Face Time calls come in. When the call is over, simply press the tape again for privacy.

First, "What's in the box"? - Yes... it comes in a box! (Not a cheap 3x5" envelope). It also comes with a 2'x3' microfiber glass cleaner & a full color manual on how to apply the webcam cover. (unlikely you'll need it though). But let's get to the heart of the matter... I was most impressed with the webcam cover in the magnetic mechanism that keeps the position of the cover. unlike most other covers that uses a "plastic notch" to snap in place. This uses a magnet, therefore not likely to wear out. They are small... and care must be taken so you position it properly (unless you don't care how it looks or if your camera is partially covered). I bought (2) pks. (since all my devices have a webcam), & will be buying another pack shortly. For the price, you just can't go wrong.

They are great, they are very small and thin, so discrete that I can't even tell it's on my device unless I'm looking for it. Don’t purchase for newer MacBook models

I would give this product 5 stars if it weren’t for one thing: I have a 2019 MacBook Air and with the webcam cover installed properly it doesn’t close completely flush. I can slide a a credit card or two in between the space between the two sides and it’s pretty noticeable by the naked eye. It’s frustrating because the advertiser states that it can be used with newer MacBook models which is FALSE. I wish I had looked back at earlier reviews to see this was the case for others instead of reading the first page of reviews.

TLDR: This is a wonderful product and easy to use. but as said above, DO NOT USE for 2019 MacBook Pro 16".

Thought this was a wonderful idea for my new 2019 laptop and installed the cover as per the instructions. After two months of use (i don't abuse my items and take care of them) the screen cracked right where the camera cover was and rendered the entire screen unusable. Thankfully had apple care!

again, wonderful product, just not for MacBook pro 16" 2019.
