As all of you know, Miraheze is a community-centric, ad free, and community driven hosting platform funded 100% by donations. We've been fortunate to once again continue seeing impressive year-over-year traffic and community growth. With that growth, though, comes the need for additional infrastructure to manage increased capacity as well as paying for the already existing infrastructure. So, we ask for you to consider chipping in with £5, £10, £20, or whatever amount you can afford. If 500 of Miraheze's 100,000+ users gave only £12 ($16.35 USD) once a year, Miraheze would exceed its budget requirements. Donate via our GoFundMe page, PayPal or GitHub Sponsors!

To thank you for your support, you have the option of on-wiki acknowledgement if you include your wiki username with your donation.

RULES AND GUIDELINES
  1. There are two major headings to use for wiki pages: "Why It Sucks" and "Why It Flopped". "Why It Flopped" is reserved for consoles and add-ons as these can fail but still have several redeeming qualities, good games, and even a fanbase, in fact it can be used in a few games like LawBreakers, which only flopped commercially and financially. "Why It Sucks" is reserved for games and accessories as some have little to no redeeming qualities. If the company is now going downhill due to one or more games, has ruined great game companies, like Konami for example, it would be here as "Why They Suck" or "Why They Suck Now" section. For games considered "average", then "Bad Qualities" and "Good Qualities" can be used instead, but make sure to include the "Average games" category. The game being average is not depending the reason numbers, it depends to the reception. Games under the "Intentionally Bad Games'" category should use "Why It Intentionally Sucks". Custom headings are allowed but we do not allow non-original or nonsensical ones. Coloring names aren't allowed, due to also being unnecessary. Plus, they show up wrong on certain devices.
  2. Make sure to follow Miraheze global policy as well as Qualitipedia global policy.
  3. Due to the excessive amount of biased and opinion-based pages in the past and corruption/SJWs in gaming journalism, games will only be considered to be on this wiki if they have at least one review from reliable source per this blog post and DeepFreeze.
  4. To avoid making low-quality pages, read the tutorial on how to create a page before creating an article.
  5. Do not create unfinished pages, instead, use your sandbox to make a draft then move it onto the main namespace when it's finished.
  6. Never copy-paste from other sites like Wikipedia when writing articles as it is considered plagiarism.
  7. Rude behavior towards other users will not be accepted. If you are rude towards another user, expect a temporary ban. If it is repeated, permanent.
  8. Be respectful and civil in the community, do not harass, insult, attack any person or else it will start doing drama, this will result in a temporary/permanent block.
  9. Attempt to stay as neutral as possible about controversial topics, or it might result in drama.
  10. You will be allowed to appeal your ban on your talk page, unless what you did was unforgivable.
  11. Writing down the plot of the game is completely optional. If the plot includes spoilers, add the {{spoilers}} template at the top of the page.
  12. If the page mentions a failed port of a good game, never add "The game itself is still good" as a redeeming quality, because as mentioned earlier, it only mentions a dedicated port, not the game itself.
  13. Do not create new categories. If you think a new category is needed, ask the admins. If your suggestion proves to be useful, they'll create it for you.
  14. Do not add categories to blogs, expect a block for adding them.
  15. Off-topic pages will not be accepted on this wiki; those will be deleted immediately, and the user who creates the page will be warned. Users will also be banned if it is repeated. Make off topic pages as blogs instead.
  16. Pages created by trolls (such as video games that people and critics liked and one person doesn't) will also result in a ban.
  17. Refrain from using swear words as much as possible in articles (exclusions include if there are any swear words in quotes). Swearing in the comments is fine as long as it isn't used to offend others.
  18. Also never type way too much all-caps on pages for no good reason, as it makes pages look unprofessional. Using italics, bold text, or underlining is okay however, as long as it isn't overused.
  19. Joke pages are not allowed here unless it is a blog (with few expectations).
  20. Reasons for deleted comments are poor grammar, malicious propaganda, harassing others, baseless insulting or if the comment makes no sense.
  21. Removing information, messing with the articles without giving a good reason, or any kind of vandalism, in general, will result in a ban.
  22. Please try to politely argue if you think a page should be deleted.
  23. If you want to create a sandbox page, do not tag your sandbox page with categories, as they will not only clutter the categories, they are only for actual articles.
  24. Sandboxes can't be used to contain alternate, personal version of already existing articles because that is seen as an attempt to bypass the wiki's quality control and admin management; the purpose of sandboxes is only to work on pages in preparation of uploading them to the main namespace of the wiki.
  25. Do not make blog posts that are hit pieces to certain users you don't like or pages either.
  26. We allow memes, but please put them in the trivia section if needed, as memes don't make or break a game's quality.
  27. If you are creating pages for terrible NSFW or NSFL games, add NSFW or NSFL warning templates at the very top of the page first.
  28. Do not send foe requests to any user, as it will likely cause drama.
  29. Before creating any pages, see the "Forbidden Pages" section for what is not allowed.
  30. Do not add the fact that a game has a toxic fanbase and/or hatebase as a bad quality. Persisting with this will result in a block without warning.
  31. Do not use quotes like "Just play X instead", "This game makes X look like a masterpiece", "More like X" or "X is an example of what not to do if Y" because they're lazy and unoriginal. If you have no idea for a quote, don't write any of the ones listed before.
  32. Please do not make articles about other users, because this could start flame wars, and besides, a few wikis were shut down because of the articles on other users that was meant to promote harassment, and humiliation.
  33. We have ZERO tolerance on spreading rumors about people or users. Articles that are confirmed to have rumors that are nothing but lies will be subsequently deleted. Those who are caught doing so will result in a block without warning.
  34. Death threats of any kind is strictly prohibited, and those who send them towards any of the admins or any editor for that matter will be blocked without warning.
  35. No harmful and insulting content directed to the wikis and to their users posted off-site will be tolerated; in addition, no excuses like "it's a joke", "it is not to be taken seriously" will be valid. Regarding how old the offending content is, it will be up to the administration staff to decide but know that generally the harmfulness of verifiable malicious content doesn't expire after a certain period of time.
  36. Users cannot use multiple accounts for vandalism, spam, trolling, evading local blocks/global (b)locks or multi-voting (this also includes voting your own comments). Usage of multiple accounts for these purposes will be seen as sockpuppetry and will result in the alternate and main accounts being permanently blocked.
  37. To avoid Content Policy violations, articles about persons are no longer allowed.
  38. Do not use capital letters each one word in the titles of articles about terrible moments in gaming history or categories, because it makes pages look less professional.
  39. Do not revert other people's edits for no reason at all, this will result in a warning.
  40. Do not disrespect other people's opinions in the comments (except for illegal stuff like pedophilia or bestiality), as this will most likely cause drama.
  41. In order to comply with COPPA, you should only sign up if you are 13 years old or older. If we catch you saying you are younger than 13, we will block you until you are 13.
  42. Please do not delete comments, blogs, or talk pages that contain criticisms of the wikis, as it will make us look like we can't handle criticism.
  43. Do not close threads so soon without waiting for someone else to give their two cents.
  44. If you're going to block a disruptive user, please don't use any homophobic slurs or anything racist.
  45. Admins will be demoted if they are inactive for 3 months or longer.
  46. Do not tell other users to create pages for you instead of doing so yourself, because that only encourages laziness and bossiness.
  47. Do not add the Good or Featured templates to pages without consulting the admin. Instead, nominate the article you think is worthy of one of the templates.
FORBIDDEN PAGES

Video games

  • Any dedicated DLC page - Already covered in the game's pages.
  • Any gameplay-related page - Same reason as DLC pages and should be here instead.
  • Any Roblox game-related page - Same reason as DLC and gameplay-related pages, should be here instead.
  • Obscure mobile games - Clogging up the wiki. They are also not worth reviewing, due to the obvious low effort of game development, and they're often free-to-play.
  • Obscure fan games - Same as obscure mobile games. Plus, it also looks like an attack against a fan who made such game.
  • ROM hacks and mods - These aren't full games, and creating such pages is pointless.
  • Super Mario 3D All-Stars - Bound to cause drama on either wiki it appears on.

Consoles

  • Famiclones - They are very similar to each other, having mostly the same issues such as inexpensive materials and often being bundled with tons of shovelware. The only exception is the aforementioned article all about that type of consoles.

Companies and designers

  • Game Freak - Too divisive for a topic.
  • Nintendo - Could stir up drama if added here.

Other

  • Any toxic fanbases - Fanbases have nothing to do with the games, and also, pages talking about them are against Miraheze's Code of Conduct.
  • Any person - Same reasons as above. Pages about users may cause drama, especially if the user discovers an article about themselves.
  • Gaming tropes: Should be here instead.
  • Hardwares: Even though they are crucial components of consoles, they have nothing to do with gaming in general.
  • Formats: Same as hardware.
  • Chinesetankies in gaming: Unnecessary and politically biased.
