Correct. There is no cure. There are a few treatments that improve outcome eg dex, toci
Every other medication is merely to support the body while we take over ventilation and hope for recovery,
Now add the pile of other consumables: drapes, tapes, gowns, tubing, etc. Then add the crowd of people needed to keep the patient alive, including clinicians, nurses, cooks and cleaners, administrators and social workers and therapists. It's atrocious. Get your vaccine!

A short thread on ICU stress. As ever leaning on the excellent @ICNARC data

I think it is both to protect yourself and others. I have seen a number of people in ICU in their 20s, 30s and 40s who thought they would be fine and turn out not to be. They and their families might also need other services that are impacted by high demand from COVID
Vaccination myth 2
“I'm young, I'll take MY chances”
Vaccination has never been about YOU it is about OTHERS
We get vaccinated to protect the vulnerable, reduce the spread & protect the NHS*
*1000 Covid patients - means 1/3 UK ICU beds NOT available for others, op's cancelled
Good research examining the role of Critical Care Outreach Teams through the pandemic. Association with patient safety, and lower incidence of needing to intubate patients on the ward.
